Machogs 1.4.0 — optional usage sharing
Optional usage sharing
Machogs now offers a clear choice to share basic usage: first observed use and one event per week when you open the app or its menu. Sharing is off by default. You can decline and use every feature, or turn sharing off later in Settings → Privacy.
No scan contents, process names, file paths, messages, or cleanup receipts are included. Opt-out clears the local analytics ID and pending delivery state. Website analytics has a separate choice, and website activity is not linked to your app.
Download
Open the DMG, drag Machogs to Applications, and launch it. Supports macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon and Intel. Developer ID signed, Apple-notarized and stapled.
Checked
36 Swift tests, 4 engine safety tests and 18 website analytics tests passed. Real signed-app opt-in/opt-out and test-event ingestion were verified. All test events are excluded from the Machogs production dashboard. No actual process cleanup or cache clearing was performed; no separate Intel hardware test was available.
Machogs 1.3.0
Machogs 1.3.0 (build 10) gives the Mac app a clearer overview and makes protected work visible.
- A redesigned native overview with a focused status, last-check time, and clear review and protection counts.
- “Work we’re leaving alone” groups protected processes by their owning app.
- The window and menu show consistent scan state; no cleanup suggestions does not mean the whole Mac is healthy.
- Process and port actions open review. External links and notification actions cannot skip confirmation.
- Failed checks stay stale through a retry. Duplicate detector rows count once, and protection wins over conflicting cleanup findings.
Download the DMG, open it, and drag Machogs to Applications. Updates are manual. Supports macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon and Intel. Developer ID signed and Apple notarized.
Validation: 29 Swift tests and four engine safety tests passed. The overview was inspected in dark appearance, including protected-work details and keyboard refresh, and in its completed light result state. The Ports screen was inspected with real listeners: protected work has no close control, and managed services are separate. No real process was closed or cache cleared during validation. A separate Intel hardware launch test was not available.
The separate memory and battery detector branches are not included.
Machogs 1.2.1
Machogs 1.2.1 (build 9) keeps running Codex sessions and their helpers out of the close list, including while you pause between messages. It covers the Codex app, older ChatGPT app installs, and the Codex command-line tool. Claude protection stays in place.
Duplicate background helpers now pass the same protection check when listed as they do when a close is requested. A running coding app is protected even if its conversation history is old or unavailable. This is deliberately conservative: quit that app yourself when you are done with it.
Download the DMG, open it, and drag Machogs to Applications. Updates are manual. The Mac app supports macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon and Intel.
Validation: 18 app tests and four engine regression tests passed. Live checks on the release Mac were read-only; no real process was closed or cache cleared. The universal download is Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. The installed app launched on the release Mac and its executable and engine matched this package. A separate clean Intel Mac launch test and visual UI inspection were not available.
The separate memory and battery feature branches are not included in this release.
Machogs CLI 1.4.1 — scan, review, receipt
Terminal flow
Start with machogs, then run machogs fix in a terminal to review findings. Press y to close the shown group, Enter to skip, or q to stop. Invalid answers ask again.
Each approved group is checked again for its original process identities and current coding-session protections. Receipts count only successful closes, including partial failures.
Help separates read-only scans from commands that act immediately. README includes the updated walkthrough. The CLI sends no analytics.
Install or update
brew update
brew install bnishit/tap/machogs
# If already installed:
brew upgrade machogsThis release updates the standalone CLI only. The latest signed Mac app is still 1.4.0; this release does not replace its DMG or bundled engine.
Validation: 17 CLI/safety tests and 18 analytics tests passed; Bash syntax checks and an actual read-only JSON scan passed. Action tests use mocked processes and signals.
Machogs 1.2.0
The pig is in the menu bar
Machogs 1.2.0 is the first native Mac app release. It catches work your apps forgot to stop, names the app that left it, and asks before doing anything.
- Read-only checks for forgotten background work, storage, and occupied ports
- A compact menu-bar workspace plus the full Mac app
- Fresh identity and protection checks before every approved close or port action
- Engine-approved cache clearing with explicit consent
- Receipts, copyable evidence, sound, and finite confetti after a real success
- No analytics, tracking, or collected data
The download is a Developer ID-signed, Apple-notarized universal app for macOS 13 or later. It supports both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Install
Download Machogs-1.2.0.dmg, open it, and drag Machogs to Applications.
The open-source CLI remains available for terminal and agent workflows.
