Releases: bobsupra/NuvioTVOS
Release list
Beta 2.9.1
tvOS Beta 2.9.1
Important: This IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
Fixed and improved
- Playback now follows the active tvOS audio route's preferred channel layout instead of preferring the source file's original layout unconditionally.
- When a TV, HDMI receiver, soundbar, or HomePod route cannot report a compatible multichannel layout, playback falls back safely to stereo instead of risking video with no usable audio.
- Includes all navigation, catalog, library, profile, PIN, and playback improvements from Beta 2.9.
Known issues
- The attached IPA is unsigned and must be installed with a compatible sideloading/signing workflow.
- The audio-route change still needs broad verification on physical Apple TVs connected to different TVs, receivers, soundbars, and HomePods.
- Search bottom-edge presentation still needs verification on a physical Apple TV after the latest scroll-layout changes.
- Profile PIN secrets are stored locally in the Apple TV Keychain and do not sync to other devices.
- Premiumize QR linking remains unavailable until its production OAuth client ID is configured.
- The Apple TV Simulator cannot play AV1 video; use H.264 or HEVC streams instead. Physical Apple TV playback is unaffected by this simulator guard.
- ASS/SSA karaoke, sign positioning, and custom typesetting are flattened to the normal subtitle style so dialogue remains in the configured lower safe area.
Beta 2.9
tvOS Beta 2.9
Important: This IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
Fixed and improved
- Backing out after a stream has started returns to Details. If a selected stream never starts, Back returns to the stream picker at the same movie or episode so another source can be chosen immediately.
- Home, Search results, Discover catalogs, and Library retain the selected card outline while Details is open and restore focus without flashing another control or jumping up a row after repeated entries.
- Discovery locks its parent Search and Recent Searches controls during the Details transition, leaving only the selected card focusable.
- Add-on Home catalogs now load additional pages from the originating manifest and preserve required genre parameters, instead of pagination working only for Cinemeta.
- Search and Discover catalog cards remain below their fixed controls while scrolling.
- The Recent Searches Clear action now uses Liquid Glass, is fully focusable, and appears after the final recent-search chip.
- Library adds content-type and genre filters and uses consistent poster sizing, labels, and focus treatment.
- tvOS 27 now shows the active account name and avatar in the sidebar header.
- On earlier tvOS versions, selecting the profile tab opens profile switching directly; the redundant standalone profile-management page has been removed.
- Profile name and avatar editing now live in Settings and sync after an explicit account edit.
- Four-digit profile PINs now work: PINs are validated, stored securely in the Apple TV Keychain, required when entering a protected profile, and can be enabled, changed, or removed from Settings.
- Signed-out profile state is reset cleanly, and automatic profile entry no longer bypasses PIN-protected profiles.
Known issues
- The attached IPA is unsigned and must be installed with a compatible sideloading/signing workflow.
- Search bottom-edge presentation still needs verification on a physical Apple TV after the latest scroll-layout changes.
- Profile PIN secrets are stored locally in the Apple TV Keychain and do not sync to other devices.
- One user has reported video with no audio on a sideloaded Apple TV setup. The issue has not reproduced locally and may depend on the Apple TV audio output, receiver, soundbar, or HomePod configuration.
Beta 2.8
tvOS Beta 2.8
Important: This IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
Fixed and improved
- Fixed the account-sync crash caused by large Continue Watching payloads falling back to UserDefaults. Synced progress now remains file-backed and storage failure is reported without terminating the app.
- Continue Watching is republished to Apple TV Top Shelf whenever the active profile loads, restoring the row when its shared snapshot was cleared by an update or signing change.
- Top Shelf Continue Watching cards now start playback directly instead of opening Details.
- URL-less synced and Next Up Top Shelf entries use the same automatic stream resolution as Home cards, with Details available only when no stream can be resolved.
- Top Shelf playback actions survive cold launch, login, and profile selection and continue automatically after the active profile is ready.
- Returning to Nuvio after using another tvOS app restores the last verified playback position instead of accepting MPV's transient final-frame timestamp.
- Player restoration preserves whether playback was playing or manually paused before switching apps.
Known issues
- The attached IPA is unsigned and must be installed with a compatible sideloading/signing workflow.
- One user has reported video with no audio on a sideloaded Apple TV setup. The issue has not reproduced locally and may depend on the Apple TV audio output, receiver, soundbar, or HomePod configuration.
Beta 2.7
tvOS Beta 2.7
Important: This IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
Fixed and improved
- Continue Watching cards now start the last watched stream directly instead of opening Details first.
- Synced Continue Watching and Next Up entries without a saved URL now resolve and smart-select a stream in place, with a loading screen and Details fallback when no stream is available.
- Account changes made on Android TV, tvOS, or another client refresh when Apple TV returns to the foreground.
- Entering an add-on manifest URL now installs, normalizes, and syncs it immediately instead of leaving it as a local-only text-field value.
- Enabled Stremio add-ons that advertise subtitle support, including SubMaker, are now queried alongside the built-in OpenSubtitles provider.
- Subtitle providers load progressively after playback begins, so resumed playback and early stream selections continue receiving results without reopening the player.
- The subtitle panel updates live while providers respond and displays a fetching indicator.
- Selecting an external subtitle before the media file finishes loading now queues and applies the selection safely afterward.
- Subtitle-provider requests now time out after 15 seconds instead of holding the player indefinitely.
- Manual subtitle browsing shows every available language; preferred subtitle languages appear first in saved priority order and the rest follow alphabetically.
- Preferred audio tracks appear first, with remaining languages listed alphabetically while preserving each language's original track order.
- ASS/SSA positioning and style tags no longer force dialogue to the top of the screen; text subtitles use the app's configured bottom margin and appearance.
- BetterPosters and other poster-only catalog entries now provide correctly cropped Home backdrops without expanding or shifting the Home layout.
- Home row materialization clamps stale focus indexes safely after catalog changes.
- The Apple TV Simulator filters known AV1 streams and rejects an unlabeled AV1 file safely instead of crashing in the simulated Metal renderer.
- One account has been reported to crash during post-login sync after several add-ons were installed on PC. The issue has not reproduced locally; the affected Apple TV crash report and add-on list are still required.
- Premiumize QR linking remains unavailable until its production OAuth client ID is configured.
- The Apple TV Simulator cannot play AV1 video; Beta 2.7 skips or rejects those streams and requires H.264 or HEVC instead. Physical Apple TV playback is unaffected by this simulator guard.
- ASS/SSA karaoke, sign positioning, and custom typesetting are flattened to the normal subtitle style so dialogue remains in the configured lower safe area.
Beta 2.6
tvOS Beta 2.6
Important: This IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
- Fixed account and profile sync so the correct profile is retained after login and Home refreshes with the synced account data.
- Continue Watching now syncs and resumes reliably on physical Apple TV, including correct handling when the app is backgrounded or reopened.
- Improved the player settings performance, focus flow, and Liquid Glass treatment across Subtitles, Audio, and Speed.
- Subtitle and audio preferences now allow unrestricted language selection, with System as the default.
- Added Torbox QR account linking in Settings, with Premiumize device-sign-in support ready for its production client configuration.
- Improved HDR display matching detection and stream metadata logging.
- Fixed Home, details, and player focus restoration so returning from a card no longer jumps to another row.
- Removed the temporary Home Sync Debug overlay.
Known issues
- The attached IPA is unsigned and must be installed with a compatible sideloading/signing workflow.
- Premiumize QR linking remains unavailable until its production OAuth client ID is configured.
Beta 2.5
tvOS Beta 2.5
Important: this IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
- Debrid stream resolution is now wired into the stream picker for Real-Debrid, Premiumize, and TorBox, so torrent-only streams can resolve into playable links after you add a provider key in Settings.
- Stream picker now supports sorting by default order, quality, size, or name, shows add-on logos, and no longer jumps focus back to the first result while scrolling quickly.
- Cloud Library is available from Library for Premiumize and TorBox accounts with an API key, with playback through the built-in player.
- Apple TV Top Shelf now mirrors Continue Watching and opens titles back into Nuvio with deep links.
- Long-pressing poster, search, discover, and library cards now opens quick actions for details, library toggle, and watched toggle.
- Continue Watching now labels ordinary up-next episodes as "Next Up" and reserves "New Episode" for recently aired latest drops.
- Holding the Siri Remote skip buttons now keeps seeking while the timeline scrubber is focused.
- Playback buffering is tuned for bursty Stremio/debrid streams.
- Preferred Audio now uses a dropdown picker in Settings.
Known issues:
- The attached IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
- AllDebrid and Debrid-Link are visible provider options, but resolver backends are not wired yet; use Real-Debrid, Premiumize, or TorBox for torrent playback in this beta.
Beta 2.4
tvOS Beta 2.4
Important: this IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
- IntroDB skip intro and skip ending are now available in the player, with a 5-second countdown before the button hides with the controls.
- Skip cards now sit on the left side, return with the player controls after hiding, and can be focused from the progress bar alongside the Next Episode card.
- Next Episode focus is fixed during end credits, including the case where the controls are open.
- Holding the Siri Remote skip buttons now keeps seeking, and the seek step defaults to 15 seconds.
- Playback settings now let you choose the seek step: 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 seconds.
- Continue Watching now keeps shows in the row when you quit during end credits instead of deleting the series card.
- New aired episodes now show as "New Episode" in Continue Watching. Upcoming episodes stay visible with their air date, and release-day episodes remain locked until the next day if the stream has not arrived yet.
- Trakt connection surfaces are wired through the Nuvio backend flow so tvOS can fetch or start a Trakt login from Settings.
- Profile avatar changes now persist after saving, and the Change Avatar tab uses the same Liquid Glass button treatment as the login buttons.
- Subtitle preview positioning now matches the player placement more closely.
Known issues:
- The attached IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
Beta 2.3
tvOS Beta 2.3
Important: if you installed Beta 2.2 or earlier and still run into sign-in/profile issues, delete the old app before installing this build. This IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
- Up Next auto-play: near the end of an episode a Liquid Glass card shows the next episode with a 10-second countdown and plays it in place, so you never have to leave the player and pick a stream again. Press Play to start it immediately, or fast-forward to cancel the countdown when you want to watch the credits or a post-credit scene. Turn the countdown off in Settings → Playback → Auto-Play Next Episode.
- Streams now load in parallel: the first add-on's results appear right away and more fill in as each add-on responds, instead of waiting for every add-on before showing anything. A slow or dead add-on no longer holds up the ones that answer quickly.
- Expired stream links recover on their own: when a link expires (the "wrong IP / link expired" slate), the player quietly fetches a fresh link for the same title or episode and resumes where you left off, instead of dropping you back to the stream list. It retries a few times before showing an error.
- Finishing an episode now rolls Continue Watching over to the next episode ("Next Up") instead of dropping the whole series off the row.
- Home catalog layout now follows your account: catalogs you have hidden or reordered on another device are applied on Apple TV.
Known issues (coming later):
- Intro skip is not available yet.
- Trakt integration is not available yet.
- If the app still returns to the Apple TV Home screen after login, please send the Xcode device console or crash log.
Note: the attached IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
Beta 2.2
tvOS Beta 2.2
Important: if you installed Beta 2 or Beta 2.1 and still run into sign-in/profile issues, delete the old app before installing this build. This IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
- Player now prevents the Apple TV screensaver from starting while video is playing or buffering, so waking the device should no longer kick you back out of playback.
- Play/Pause focus is steadier inside the player; toggling pause/resume no longer swaps the button structure and drops focus down to the timeline.
- Audio language and subtitle choices made inside the player are remembered per movie/episode, including subtitle Off and external subtitle URLs, and restored when you reopen playback.
- Preferred Audio is applied when there is no saved per-episode audio choice yet.
- Fixed a real-device login crash caused by large watched-history sync data exceeding the tvOS UserDefaults storage limit.
- Profile avatars now come from the synced Nuvio avatar catalog, and blank avatar IDs sync as null instead of the old local placeholder.
- Who's Watching refreshes live when profile sync writes updated profiles, so imported profile names and avatars can appear without leaving the screen.
Known issues (coming later):
- Intro skip is not available yet.
- Next episode inside the player is not available yet.
- Trakt integration is not available yet.
- If the app still returns to the Apple TV Home screen after login, please send the Xcode device console or crash log.
Note: the attached IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
Beta 2.1
tvOS Beta 2.1
Important: delete the old Beta 2 app before installing this build. Beta 2.1 starts with a clean slate on fresh installs (you'll sign in again once); installing over Beta 2 also signs you out one time.
- Collections from your Nuvio account now show as rows on Home, and you can create, pin, delete, and fill collections with add-on catalogs under Settings → Layout → Collections. Changes sync to your other devices.
- Your add-ons' catalogs (MDBList custom lists, etc.) now appear as rows on Home.
- Reorder add-ons (stream priority) and Home catalog rows with new arrow controls in Settings; add-on order syncs to your account.
- Series show an ONGOING/ENDED badge with the IMDb rating on the Home hero, like the details page.
- Login and sync hardening: fresh installs always start at the sign-in page, the post-login sync no longer shows placeholder profiles on Who's Watching, signing out mid-sync can no longer restore or overwrite account data, and QR login no longer burns through the request limit.
Known issues (coming later):
- Intro skip is not available yet.
- Next episode inside the player is not available yet.
- Subtitles can be hard to select inside the player.
- Trakt integration is not available yet.
Note: the attached IPA is unsigned because no tvOS signing identity is configured on this machine.
