All of Fono's settings are now editable from your browser, and live
transcript mode degrades gracefully when your STT backend can't stream.
Added
- Browser-based settings UI (
[server.web], default off). Pick
Settings… in the tray — or runfono config web— and Fono opens a
searchable settings page in your browser: a nine-section accordion covering
every option, with live value summaries on each section, an
unsaved-changes bar that shows exactly what you edited before you save,
press-to-set hotkey capture, provider card grids for the STT / polish /
assistant / TTS backends, and dark/light themes. Saving applies
immediately — the daemon hot-reloads, no restart. API keys are write-only
through the page (you can set them, never read them back). The server
binds to loopback only (127.0.0.1:10808) and takes an optional bearer
token; it's plain embedded HTML/CSS/JS on the HTTP plumbing that shipped
in 0.13.0, so it adds no new dependencies and no measurable binary size.
Fixed
- Live transcript mode with a non-streaming STT backend no longer breaks
the overlay. Live transcript preview needs a streaming-capable backend
(local Whisper, Groq, or Deepgram). With any other backend (e.g. Gemini),
the dictation hotkey falls back to the normal batch pipeline — but the
overlay could get stuck on screen permanently, and nothing told you why
there was no live text. Now the fallback session shows the standard audio
visualisation for the whole recording, a one-time notification explains
that the configured backend can't stream (and that your text is typed
when you stop), your Transcript preference is restored automatically
afterwards, and the overlay always clears when the session ends.
Removed
- Three inert config keys:
[audio].sample_rate,[interactive].mode, and
[interactive].quality_floor— each was a reserved knob with only one
implemented value. Existing config files keep working; the keys are
simply ignored and dropped on the next save.
