New Features
Makefile Enhancements
- Environment validation: Commands now verify
.envexists before execution make init: Creates.envfrom template with setup instructionsmake shell: Direct access to Matomo container for console commandsmake dbandmake db-root: Database CLI access without remembering credentials
Simplified Configuration
- Single source of truth for database credentials
- Hardcoded static values that never change (database hostname, adapter)
- Optional table prefix with sensible default
- Reduced configuration complexity and potential for errors
Technical Details
- Docker Compose configuration now maps MariaDB environment variables directly to Matomo
- Database hostname
dbis hardcoded as it's internal to the Docker network - MySQL adapter hardcoded as it never changes for MariaDB
- Table prefix defaults to
matomo_if not specified
Compatibility
- Requires Docker Compose v1 or v2
- Compatible with latest Matomo and MariaDB images
- Tested on macOS and Linux
