Sodilaud v0.15.0

A new look: a new icon, tray glyph and fonts, a flatter interface, and Executive as the theme for new installs.

Highlights

  • New icon. The app icon shows a board with an amber scrap pinned over its corner, on a coral tile. Small sizes drop detail so the icon stays readable in the Dock, the taskbar and the menu bar.
  • New tray glyph. The menu-bar icon uses the same board-and-scrap shape.
  • Executive by default. New installs start in the Executive theme: amber text on a dark ink ground with a teal accent.
  • Bundled fonts. Inter for the interface and JetBrains Mono for code now ship with the app, so text looks the same on every system, offline.
  • Flatter interface. The purple glow and the background blur are gone. Focused fields show a solid ring in the theme's accent colour.
  • Website. The project site uses the new palette, favicon and wordmark.

Compatibility

  • Your saved theme stays as it is, including Default Dark. Choose Executive in the theme picker to switch.
  • Notes, files, settings and workspaces carry over unchanged.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

What's Changed

  • feat(brand): add new app icon, wordmark, tray glyph and design tokens by @borgand in #43
  • feat(brand): apply the new brand to icons, app UI and site by @borgand in #44
  • chore(release): 0.15.0 by @borgand in #45
  • fix(test): wait for Next unreviewed to hide instead of a fixed 200 ms by @borgand in #46
  • fix(test): wait for debounced UI with a harness helper, not fixed sleeps by @borgand in #47

Sodilaud v0.14.0

Review a finished change as a book: chapters that explain it, with the diff hunks inside, marked reviewed one by one and discussed with the agent in threads.

Highlights

  • Review book skill. Agent Access now also installs the review-book skill for Claude Code. When a change is done, the agent writes a folder of Markdown chapters under .claude/review/<branch>/: an overview with a diagram, one chapter per functionality, and every diff hunk placed in exactly one chapter. A bundled checker confirms that the book covers the whole diff.
  • Diff hunks in place. A ```diff path=... block shows as a diff with old and new line numbers and syntax highlighting by file type. Its header stays in view while you scroll. Reviewed marks a hunk done, and a hunk can be collapsed. Select code inside a hunk to comment on it, and Next unreviewed jumps ahead.
  • Discussion threads. Comments become threads. Reply to the agent and the agent replies back, with a New marker on unread agent replies. The MCP server has a new reply_comment tool.
  • Links between files. Headings get anchors. #heading links scroll, and chapter.md#heading links open a file next to the current one. Point at a link to get an arrow that follows it, also inside tables. Back and Forward in the title bar (Cmd/Ctrl + [ and ], or a mouse's side buttons) return along the links you followed.
  • Folding and outline. Fold a section by its heading in Live and Reading mode. The outline panel lists the headings with reviewed-over-total counts, and the status bar shows how many hunks are reviewed.
  • Files open at the top and keep their scroll position when you switch between them. Triple-click selects a line without its line break.

Limits

  • Links to other files, Back and Forward, the outline and the reviewed count work in files, not in Quick Notes.
  • Commenting by clicking a hunk's line number works in Live mode only.
  • The review book needs Claude Code with Sodilaud's MCP server connected.

Compatibility

  • Indent and outdent move to Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + ] and [. Cmd/Ctrl + [ and ] now go back and forward.
  • Folds are kept for the session only and never change the file. The Reviewed toggle writes a reviewed word into the hunk's fence line.
  • Notes, files, settings and workspaces carry over unchanged.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

What's Changed

  • docs(roadmap): add comments on tables and in Reading mode by @borgand in #30
  • feat: review book (roadmap items 10-14) by @borgand in #41
  • chore(release): 0.14.0 by @borgand in #42

Sodilaud v0.13.0

Open files from a terminal with sodilaud notes.md, and tables keep dates and IDs on one line.

Highlights

  • sodilaud command. Run sodilaud notes.md in a terminal to open a file in the main window. Sodilaud starts if it is not running, and the command returns at once. Relative paths resolve from the terminal's folder, and a missing .md, .markdown or .txt file is created empty. Install it from Command Line Tool… in the Sodilaud menu (on macOS also in the app menu).
  • Table columns that fit their values. Short values such as dates, IDs and times (2026-09-30, LB-01, 14:00) stay on one line, while long text columns wrap. This applies in Live mode, Reading mode and Copy rendered HTML.
  • Wide tables scroll. A table too wide for the window scrolls sideways instead of breaking its values across lines.

Limits

  • The sodilaud command works on macOS and Linux. It has no --wait option yet, so it cannot be used as $EDITOR or as the editor for commit messages.
  • On macOS the command can be installed only from Sodilaud.app in the Applications folder, not from a development build or a copy macOS still runs from a temporary location.
  • If ~/.local/bin is not on your PATH, the install dialog shows the line to add to your shell's startup file.
  • Find in Reading mode does not match text that runs from a date or ID in a table into the text next to it.

Compatibility

  • Installing the command writes one file, ~/.local/bin/sodilaud. Command Line Tool… also updates or removes it, and never changes a file there that Sodilaud did not install.
  • Copied HTML wraps each table in a div and short table values in span elements, with inline styles so the layout holds when pasted elsewhere.
  • Notes, files, settings and workspaces carry over unchanged.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

What's Changed

  • feat(editor): render Mermaid diagrams by @borgand in #25
  • chore(release): 0.12.0 by @borgand in #26
  • feat(editor): keep short table values whole with per-column minimum widths by @borgand in #27

Sodilaud v0.12.0

Mermaid diagrams render in place: write a ```mermaid block and see the diagram.

Highlights

  • Mermaid diagrams. A ```mermaid code block shows as a diagram in Live mode, in Reading mode, and in Copy rendered HTML, in files and in Quick Notes. Flowcharts, sequence, class, state, ER, Gantt, mindmap and the other Mermaid diagram types are supported.
  • Edit with the diagram in view. Click a diagram to edit its source. The diagram stays below the source while you type and updates when you pause.
  • Follows your theme. Diagrams use the active theme's colors and redraw when you switch theme or preset.
  • Errors in place. A diagram with a syntax error shows Mermaid's message where the diagram would be, never a blank block.

Limits

  • The ELK layout is not included (its license is not compatible with Sodilaud's). Diagrams use Mermaid's standard dagre layout; a diagram that asks for layout: elk shows an error.
  • Math in diagram labels renders without its proper fonts.
  • Images inside diagram labels load only from within the app; remote images are blocked.

Compatibility

  • Mermaid 12.1 is bundled and runs offline. It loads only when a document contains a diagram, so documents without one start as before. The app grows by about 4 MB.
  • Notes, files, settings and workspaces carry over unchanged.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

Sodilaud v0.11.0

Agents can now work with you in Sodilaud: show you a file, drop a note into Quick Notes, and edit a document alongside you while you comment on it.

Highlights

  • Co-edit with an agent. Select text in a file or a note and press ⌘⌥M (Ctrl+Alt+M on Windows and Linux) to leave a comment. An agent running /sodilaud picks it up, edits the document while you keep reading and typing, and resolves the comment with a note on what it changed. Your typing always wins: an agent edit to text you changed meanwhile is handed back to the agent, never applied over yours. Agent edits show with a short highlight.
  • Comments panel. Comments stay anchored to their text as either of you edits, and are kept across restarts. Send them as you go, or switch to Hold for review and send a batch with Send review. Resend puts a comment back in the queue. A comment whose text is gone is marked, never dropped.
  • Agents can start the review. An agent can open a document it wrote and leave its own questions. Reply answers one; only your answer goes to the agent, with its question attached.
  • Agent push. An agent can put a note into Quick Notes, in a From agents folder, for throw-away output such as commands to run. The panel shows it without taking keyboard focus.
  • Agent open. An agent can open a .md, .markdown or .txt file in the main window for you to read.
  • Outside edits merge. When another program changes a file you have open, Sodilaud merges the change into the editor: your cursor, unsaved typing and undo history stay. Only when both of you changed the same lines does it keep your text and ask Reload or Keep mine.
  • Claude Code integration. MCP Configuration can install a /sodilaud command, a sodilaud skill, and a hook that stops Claude Code's own Edit and Write on a co-edited file while Sodilaud runs with agent access on. Remove takes them out again.

Changed

  • Agent access and its permissions are remembered across restarts. If access was on when you quit, it is on again at launch with the same choices. A function added in a new release starts on if it reads and off if it writes.
  • Both windows' menus have the same Agent access section: the On/Off toggle and MCP Configuration…. A change in one window shows in the other at once. The main window's status bar shows MCP listening too.
  • Notes live in the app instead of the Quick Notes page, so agents work even before the panel has loaded, and an agent's edit reaches an open note without disturbing your typing.
  • Notes are stored in default.sqlite in the app data directory. The first launch copies the notes from 0.10's local storage once and leaves local storage as it was.
  • Sodilaud, not the window, autosaves open files.
  • New MCP tools: push_quick_note, open_document, list_documents, read_document, apply_edit, get_pending_comments, add_comment, resolve_comment. The write tools start off; enable them in MCP Configuration.

Limits

  • The /sodilaud command and the hook expect the MCP server to be named sodilaud in Claude Code.
  • The hook calls the Sodilaud you installed it from. After moving or reinstalling Sodilaud, choose Update in MCP Configuration.
  • Find and replace, split view, and compare work in Quick Notes but not yet on files. Folders cannot be opened yet.

Compatibility

  • Notes, folders, trash, and workspaces carry over. A workspace file gains a comments table the first time 0.11 opens it.
  • Going back to 0.10 finds the notes as they were before the upgrade; notes created or changed in 0.11 are not in 0.10's local storage.
  • New files, readable only by you: default.sqlite and a comments folder in the app data directory, and mcp.json in the config directory. Also in the app data directory: coedit.json, the list of co-edited file paths that the Claude Code hook reads.
  • Installing the Claude Code integration writes to ~/.claude (commands/sodilaud.md, skills/sodilaud/SKILL.md, and a hook in settings.json, after saving settings.json.bak). Nothing is written there unless you choose Install.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

  • docs(roadmap): add table column widths and Mermaid diagrams by @borgand in #17

Sodilaud v0.10.0

Sodilaud now has two halves: Quick Notes, a floating notepad one hotkey away, and a Markdown editor for the files on your disk.

Highlights

  • Quick Notes. Press ⌘⇧N (Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows and Linux) in any app to show or hide your notes in a floating panel. It stays on top while you work in other apps and closes only when you ask: the hotkey again, Cmd/Ctrl+W, or its × button. On macOS it opens over full-screen apps without bringing Sodilaud to the front or changing your ⌘Tab order. It reopens at the same size and place, on the note you had open. Everything your notes had carries over: folders, pins, search, trash, find and replace, split view, and compare.
  • Edit Markdown files. The main window opens .md, .markdown, and .txt files with the same Live, Source, and Reading editor and formatting toolbar. Changes save automatically once a file has a name, and each open file keeps its own undo history. Open files from the start page, with Cmd/Ctrl+O, or from Finder with Open With → Sodilaud. Open files reopen at the next launch.
  • Your files, unchanged. Saves are atomic and keep the file's permissions, byte-order mark, and CRLF line endings. Sodilaud never reformats a file. A file changed by another app reloads if you have not edited it, and asks Reload or Keep mine if you have.
  • A start page. With no file open, the main window explains both halves of the app, offers New File and Open File, lists recent files, and links the Quick Notes Welcome note.

Changed

  • Notes moved from the main window to Quick Notes. The first launch after upgrading shows where they went.
  • Agent access is turned on in the Quick Notes menu; the main window's Sodilaud menu → Agent access… takes you there. Agents keep working while the panel is hidden, and they cannot see your files.
  • Themes, zoom, line spacing, syntax highlighting, and line numbers are set in the main window's menu and apply to both windows. Sidebar preview lines stay in the Quick Notes menu.
  • Cmd/Ctrl+N creates a note in Quick Notes and a file in the main window. Help (Cmd/Ctrl+/) opens in the main window.
  • On Windows and Linux, closing the main window quits Sodilaud after saving, since there is no menu-bar icon to keep it running. Opening a file while Sodilaud runs hands it to the running app.

Limits

  • Files must be UTF-8 text of at most 10 MB. A file that mixes LF and CRLF line endings is saved with LF once edited.
  • Find and replace, split view, and compare work in Quick Notes but not yet on files. Folders cannot be opened yet.

Compatibility

  • Notes, folders, trash, and workspaces carry over unchanged.
  • New settings files in the app's config directory, readable only by you: quicknotes.json (panel size and position, hotkey, windows open at quit) and files.json (open and recent files).
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

What's Changed

  • docs(roadmap): mark CM6 editor swap done by @borgand in #11
  • feat(quicknotes): Quick Notes panel, start page and settings split by @borgand in #12
  • feat(files): edit Markdown files in the main window by @borgand in #13
  • style(rust): apply cargo fmt to the Quick Notes and files modules by @borgand in #15
  • chore(release): 0.10.0 by @borgand in #14

bb3c75d

Sodilaud v0.9.0

This release replaces the editor. Notes are edited in place with Markdown rendered as you write, and formatting is available from the keyboard and a toolbar.

Highlights

  • Live, Source, and Reading modes. The Edit / Split / Preview layout is replaced by three modes, switched with the icon buttons in the top bar. Live is the new default: Markdown syntax shows only on the lines your cursor or selection touches, while headings, emphasis, links, task checkboxes, and tables render in place. Source shows raw Markdown in a monospace font. Reading is the rendered, read-only view. The synced split preview is gone.
  • Formatting shortcuts. Cmd/Ctrl+B bold, Cmd/Ctrl+I italic, Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+X strikethrough, Cmd/Ctrl+E inline code, Cmd/Ctrl+K link, Cmd/Ctrl+Alt+1 to 6 headings, Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+7, 8, and 9 numbered, bullet, and task lists, Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+. quote, and Cmd/Ctrl+Alt+C code block. Marks, headings, lists, and quotes toggle off when applied again, and each action is one undo step.
  • Formatting toolbar. A button group left of the mode buttons, with a heading menu and buttons for code blocks, tables, and horizontal rules. Buttons that do not fit the window move into a "»" menu. The toolbar acts on the pane you last worked in and is unavailable in Reading mode.
  • Tables and links in Live mode. Tables render as a formatted table until you click into one, which shows the raw pipe source for editing. On macOS, Cmd-click opens a link through the usual confirmation dialog (Ctrl-click on Windows and Linux); a plain click places the cursor. In Reading mode a plain click opens a link, as before.
  • Everything else carries over. Compare mode, the two-note split view, find and replace, zoom and line spacing, line numbers, and the smart editing keys for lists, tables, indentation, and pair completion all work as before.

Changed

  • Toggle Sidebar moves from Cmd/Ctrl+B to Ctrl+Cmd+S on macOS (Ctrl+Alt+S on Windows and Linux), because Cmd/Ctrl+B now makes text bold.
  • Remote images still never load. In Live mode only embedded data: images render; other images stay visible as Markdown source.

Compatibility

  • No changes to notes or workspaces. Notes, workspaces, and preferences carry over from v0.8.2.
  • The saved layout preference is converted once: Edit and Split open in Live, Preview opens in Reading.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

What's Changed

  • feat(editor): CodeMirror 6 editor with live preview, formatting shortcuts and toolbar by @borgand in #9
  • chore(release): 0.9.0 by @borgand in #10

Sodilaud v0.8.2

This release adds one new built-in theme.

Highlights

  • Executive. A new preset theme ported from the Executive Typora theme (MIT): deep jade greens, brown borders, and warm parchment text on a dark surface. Pick it from the theme picker. Like every preset, the sidebar text tones and the active-note row are derived from its own colours and checked for readable contrast, so note previews stay legible.

Compatibility

  • No data or settings changes. Notes, workspaces, and preferences carry over from v0.8.1.
  • If you previously imported Executive as a custom theme file, the built-in preset replaces it; delete the imported copy from the theme picker if you no longer want it.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

What's Changed

  • feat(themes): add Executive color preset by @borgand in #7
  • chore(release): 0.8.2 by @borgand in #8

Sodilaud v0.8.1

This release refines clipboard history on macOS.

Highlights

  • Paste with ⌘↵. In the clipboard popup, ⌘↵ picks the focused entry and pastes it into the app you came from, even with auto-paste off. Enter still only copies, unless auto-paste is on.
  • Asks for Accessibility when it needs it. Pasting needs the macOS Accessibility permission. When it is missing, Sodilaud now opens the macOS dialog to grant it instead of silently copying only. Restart Sodilaud after granting it.
  • Masked entries show more context. When a copy holds ordinary text before a secret, such as a note that ends with API_TOKEN=… or a curl command with a bearer token, the popup row shows that text from the first line, then the masked secret and its last 4 characters. Multi-line masked entries show their line count. A bare password or token looks the same as before, and no row shows more than the last 4 characters of a secret.
  • Wider popup. The popup is half again as wide and shows up to 80 characters of each entry.

Compatibility

  • No data or settings changes. Notes, workspaces, and clipboard settings carry over from v0.8.0.
  • Accessibility after upgrading. macOS treats each new unsigned build as a new app, so an existing Sodilaud entry under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility may stop applying. If pasting stops working, remove the old entry, grant the permission again when asked, and restart Sodilaud.
  • Clipboard history is macOS only; the setting does not appear on Windows or Linux.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

What's Changed

  • docs(site): showcase clipboard history on the landing page and README by @borgand in #4
  • feat(clipboard): Cmd-Enter paste, Accessibility prompt, clearer masked rows, wider popup by @borgand in #5
  • chore/release 0.8.1 by @borgand in #6

Sodilaud v0.8.0

This release adds clipboard history on macOS and completes the rename from Scratchpad to Sodilaud.

Highlights

  • Clipboard history (macOS). Press ⌘⇧V in any app to open a small popup with your recent text copies, then pick one with a number key, the arrow keys, j/k, or the mouse. The history lives in memory only and entries expire on their own.
  • Always in the menu bar on macOS. Sodilaud keeps a menu-bar icon while it runs. Closing the main window now hides it instead of quitting; quit from the menu-bar icon or with ⌘Q.
  • Renamed to Sodilaud, no longer labelled beta. The app, window, package, MCP server, and release names now all say Sodilaud. Releases are tagged vX.Y.Z and published as regular releases.

Clipboard history

  • Off by default. Turn it on in Sodilaud menu → Clipboard history, where you can also set how many entries to keep (1 to 50, default 10), how long they live (1 to 120 minutes, default 10), and the hotkey.
  • Every text copy from any app is captured. Re-copying a value moves it to the top without extending its lifetime.
  • Values that look like secrets, such as API tokens, JWTs, private keys, passwords in URLs, and KEY=value lines, are masked until you reveal them with Space, h, or the eye icon.
  • Picking an entry puts it back on the clipboard. Optionally, Sodilaud pastes it into the app you came from; that needs the macOS Accessibility permission and is off by default.
  • The popup opens over any app, including full-screen apps, without taking Sodilaud to the front or changing your ⌘Tab order. Drag its header to move it. It follows your Sodilaud theme.
  • Delete an entry with the trash icon, ⌫, or Delete. Clear everything from the menu-bar icon.

Privacy

  • Entries exist only in the app's memory. They are never written to disk, local storage, or workspace files, never logged, never sent to agents over MCP, and never sent over the network.
  • When an entry expires, is deleted, or history is turned off, and on quit, Sodilaud also clears the system clipboard if it still holds that value.
  • Values Sodilaud puts back on the clipboard are marked as local to this Mac (no Universal Clipboard) and as concealed, so well-behaved clipboard managers skip them.
  • The popup is excluded from screen sharing and screenshots where macOS allows it.
  • See clipboard history and SECURITY.md for the full privacy boundary and the copies that the operating system keeps outside Sodilaud's control.

Other changes

  • Quitting from the menu-bar icon or with ⌘Q saves pending note changes first; if saving fails, the quit is cancelled and you see an error.
  • The About panel describes clipboard history.

Compatibility

  • Local notes after the rename. Local notes, folders, trash, and view preferences are stored under new sodilaud_ keys, and nothing is migrated from the old scratchpad_ keys. If you used local notes in v0.7.9, export the ones you need to keep before upgrading, or keep them in a workspace file, which is unaffected.
  • Workspace and MCP. The remembered workspace and the MCP token file were renamed as well: reopen your workspace file once from Sodilaud menu → Open workspace, and reconfigure MCP clients from Sodilaud menu → Agent access.
  • Closing the window on macOS. Closing the main window now keeps Sodilaud running in the menu bar. On Windows and Linux, closing the window still quits.
  • Clipboard history is macOS only; the setting does not appear on Windows or Linux.
  • New app name and data location. The app is now installed as Sodilaud (not Sodilaud Beta) with the identifier io.github.borgand.sodilaud, so it keeps its data apart from earlier beta builds. Delete the old Sodilaud Beta app after upgrading; workspace files are unaffected.
  • Builds are not production-signed; macOS and Windows may display a security warning.

What's Changed

  • feat(clipboard): in-memory clipboard history for macOS by @borgand in #2
