๐ŸŒธ Sakura Switch v1.1.0 PRO

Sakura Switch was released to the public only a few days ago โ€” and we did not expect to receive feedback from the community so quickly.

The first downloads, the first reactions, the first real bug report, and confirmation from users that the fix we released solved the problem on their Macs.

Originally, we planned to keep the PRO features for the next stage of Sakura Switch development. First, we wanted to understand one important thing: do other macOS and Nintendo Switch users actually need a tool like this?

The answer came much faster than we expected.

So there was no reason to wait any longer.

Today, we are releasing Sakura Switch v1.1.0 PRO. ๐ŸŒธ

And we want to make one thing clear right away.

โค๏ธ PRO does not mean โ€œpaidโ€

Sakura Switch PRO is being released completely free of charge.

This is not a temporary promotion, not a trial period, and not the first step toward a subscription model.

We do not plan to charge for the use of Sakura Switch โ€” now or in the future.

No subscriptions.
No purchase required for PRO.
No payment to unlock features.
No hidden functionality behind a paywall.

PRO is about the capabilities of the application, not its price.

๐ŸŒธ Why PRO?

The name PRO was never intended to mean a paid edition.

When the first version of Sakura Switch appeared, we deliberately chose not to include everything we had planned from the very beginning. First, we wanted to understand whether other macOS and Nintendo Switch users actually needed a tool like this.

The first releases became a test of that idea.

And the community responded.

So there was no longer any reason to keep the features we had originally reserved for Sakura's next stage waiting on the sidelines.

That is how Sakura Switch PRO came to be.

For us, PRO does not mean a price.

PRO means what Sakura Switch was meant to become.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Applications โ€” the new Homebrew center

The main new feature in v1.1.0 is a complete Homebrew catalog directly inside Sakura Switch.

At launch, the catalog contains 50 Nintendo Switch applications and components.

There is no longer any need to search for releases manually, download archives, figure out their structure, or determine exactly where each file belongs on the SD card.

You choose an application โ€” Sakura does the rest.

The catalog supports:

  • search and categories;
  • automatic retrieval of current versions;
  • package version and size information;
  • safe catalog updates that respect GitHub API limits;
  • installation directly onto a connected Nintendo Switch.

โš™๏ธ Universal Homebrew Installer

For PRO, we developed a universal Homebrew installation system.

Sakura Switch now understands the main formats used to distribute Nintendo Switch applications and components:

NRO ยท OVL ยท ZIP ยท 7z ยท BIN

The application automatically determines the package type and the required installation structure.

Regular Homebrew applications, Tesla overlays, system components, multi-component archives, and payload files are supported.

For applications that require files to be placed in specific locations, Sakura uses the appropriate installation paths.

The user no longer needs to figure out what goes where.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Installation with data protection

We did not want to create an โ€œInstallโ€ button that simply copies files to the SD card.

That is why the PRO installer is built as a transactional system.

Before replacing an existing file, Sakura creates a backup, installs the new version, verifies the result, and only completes the operation after successful verification.

If the installation fails, Sakura attempts to restore the previous state.

Backup โ†’ Install โ†’ Verify โ†’ Commit / Rollback

User configuration files are preserved during updates.

In particular, Sakura does not replace the user's existing DBI/dbi.config configuration.

The principle here is simple:

updating an application should not mean destroying the user's settings.

๐ŸŒ Sakura now speaks three languages

Sakura Switch v1.1.0 introduces full localization:

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Russian
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง English
๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต ๆ—ฅๆœฌ่ชž

The language is selected automatically by macOS.

Not only the main interface, but also statuses, errors, dialogs, hints, and the PRO interface are localized.

The localization architecture has also been prepared so that additional languages can be added in the future.

๐ŸŽฎ Everything else is still Sakura

PRO is not a new application and does not replace the previous Sakura Switch.

It is the evolution of the existing project.

v1.1.0 retains the capabilities of previous releases:

Game Installation โ€” working with supported content through MTP and DBI Backend.

SD Card โ€” browsing the SD card structure and working with files directly from your Mac.

Saves โ€” browsing and managing save data for installed games.

Games & Mods โ€” working with game content and modifications.

FTP โ€” access to the Nintendo Switch over the local network.

DBI Backend โ€” content transfer through the existing Sakura Switch backend.

๐ŸŽ A true macOS application

Sakura Switch remains a native macOS application.

And it remains self-contained.

The user does not need to manually install:

Homebrew ยท libmtp ยท libusb ยท MTP helper

The required MTP helper and runtime libraries are included directly in the Sakura Switch application bundle.

When privileged MTP access is used for the first time, macOS displays the standard administrator authorization prompt, after which the required environment is prepared automatically.

This part of Sakura was improved in v1.0.3 following the first reports from users โ€” and the fix was subsequently confirmed by them on real Macs.

This is especially important to us: Sakura should not work only on the developer's computer.

It should work for the user.

โค๏ธ Free. And it will stay free.

We want to say this separately once again so that the name PRO does not create the wrong impression.

Sakura Switch PRO is free.

We are not going to turn the application catalog into a paid feature.

We are not going to introduce a subscription.

We are not going to sell a PRO unlock.

We are not going to charge for the use of Sakura Switch.

The project exists because we ourselves were missing a tool like this on macOS.

If Sakura is now useful to other Nintendo Switch owners, then it is doing what it was created to do.

PRO is about the capabilities of the application, not its price.

๐ŸŒธ Thank you

Sakura Switch is still a very young project.

And that is exactly why it is especially rewarding to see the first downloads, the first reactions from the community, and people who not only tried the application but also took the time to report problems and then test our fixes.

Thank you to everyone who downloaded Sakura, tested it, reported an issue, or simply told others about the project.

And a special thank you to Sakura's first users.

Your response is what made us realize that there was no reason to keep the PRO features waiting for the next stage.

We are only getting started.

But Sakura is no longer just our idea.

It has begun its journey.

๐ŸŒธ Sakura blooms.
