Some cleanups after deciding not to go with a /v2 package.

Added Default() for default config

Bumped major version due to API change. Thanks to @perbu for contribution! :-)

Documentation and benchmark fix.

Removed logging

Libraries shouldn't log. Removed logging and replaced instances of logging with calls to optional logger.

Added configurability

This release breaks the API which is why we bumped the major version to 1. This is in no way a statement about the maturity of the code.
