Bit-Perfect Detector 1.0.0

First public release of Bit-Perfect Detector, an Android app that tells you whether your phone supports Android's native bit-perfect mode and Hi-Res audio through a USB DAC.

What it does

• Bit-perfect support: reads the audio configuration the manufacturer installed on the phone and, with a USB DAC connected, confirms it with Android's own API (AudioMixerAttributes, MIXER_BEHAVIOR_BIT_PERFECT).
• Hi-Res audio: shows the maximum resolution the phone declares for the USB output and the one Android accepts with your DAC.
• USB DAC: detects the connected DAC; results update automatically when you plug it in or unplug it.
• Compatible apps: lists your installed music apps that use Android's native bit-perfect mode, and suggests others from the Play Store.
• Send report: sends your results anonymously, so your phone can be added to the public table of phones.
• Available in 10 languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Hindi.

Privacy

Reports are anonymous: they don't include your name, email address, accounts or anything that identifies you, only data about your phone and its audio. The app uses the internet only to send the report when you tap "Send", and you can review everything before sending. The report server is open source and stores nothing. See the privacy policy.

Requirements

Android 14 or later (native bit-perfect mode was added in Android 14). A USB DAC is optional, but needed for a definitive result.

Installation

1. Download Bit-Perfect-Detector-1.0.apk below.
2. Open it on your phone and allow installing apps from that source if Android asks.
3. If you installed the previous APK where the reports where sent through your email, please update it by installing the same APK below.
