Native desktop app (self-contained, opt-in)

Chimera now ships a native desktop app — a small window + system-tray shell (Tauri, using your OS's webview) over a PyInstaller-frozen copy of the same backend the CLI runs. The installer is zero-dependency: no system Python, no pip install.

Installers are attached to this release by CI a few minutes after publish (.exe/NSIS · .dmg · .AppImage · .deb). They are unsigned for now, so the first launch shows a SmartScreen (Windows) or Gatekeeper (macOS) warning — choose Run anyway / right-click → Open.

The terminal CLI stays fully sovereign — the app is optional, every feature has a CLI equivalent, and the PyPI wheel is unchanged (the ~200 MB frozen sidecar lives only in these installers, never in the wheel).

  • chimera app: a busy port no longer crashes — it falls back to a free port (--port 0 = any free port); new --emit-port-file for the sidecar to discover the URL.
  • Honest README repositioning: native app (zero-install) vs PWA (lightest if you already run chimera app).
  • The published benchmark stays honest: internal weak-model lift 60.0% → 73.3% (+13.3pp, n=15, 95% CI [−4.2%, +13.3%], not yet significant); Terminal-Bench null result published as-is.
