Skrive 1.8.4 is a polish release: one visual language across every menu, dialog, and control in the app, plus a set of new illustrated icons.

New illustrated icons

The insert menu, formatting toolbar, and block controls wear a new duotone icon set — headings, lists, quote, code, table, divider, and link, each drawn as a small illustration. They follow your theme: structural linework adapts to light and dark, and the accent color runs through the whole family.

A better insert menu

Type / and the insert menu now reads the way you'd hope: items grouped by kind with clean separators, icons aligned in a column, and keyboard shortcuts shown right on the row — so the menu teaches you the faster path while you use it.

Tidier toolbar

Code blocks are now one click on the toolbar (click again to turn back into text). The "Turn into" control shows the icon of the block you're in, and its menu is down to the essentials: text and headings.

One look for dialogs and menus

Every dialog and palette — rename, delete, new project, search, the command palette — now shares the same soft rounded surface as Skrive's toasts, with one calm shadow language. Context menus, dropdowns, and the command palette share consistent rows, hover fills, and shortcut hints. Destructive actions sit behind a separator where they belong.

Calmer controls

Buttons, text fields, toggles, and dropdowns are unified across the app — including Settings, which now matches the rest of Skrive instead of doing its own thing. Text fields focus with a gentle glow, the same everywhere.

Also in this release

  • .html files open in a rendered read-only viewer.
  • Removed the redundant floating copy button in the Markdown preview.

As always: your writing stays in plain files you own, on your machine.
