Directorium 0.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@bulbashenko bulbashenko released this 14 Oct 18:39

What's new in 0.3.1

Fixed

  • GAL address books are back right after a Thunderbird restart. Previously they could stay missing until the background woke up on its own (up to an hour).
  • No more duplicate "Exchange GAL" books when signing into the new Outlook. One mailbox is now always one account, and each book is named after your organization (e.g. contoso.com). Existing duplicates are merged automatically on first start; names you set with Rename are kept.

Changed

  • OWA web login is the default account type — the mode that works on locked-down tenants.
  • Removed the unused tabs permission, so the install prompt no longer asks for access to browser tabs.
  • The Accounts list shows the mailbox email instead of the internal OID:/PUID: id.

Install

Recommended: install the signed add-on from addons.thunderbird.net — it updates automatically.

The directorium-0.3.1.xpi below is an unsigned build for testing (Debug Add-ons → Load Temporary Add-on…).

v0.3.0 — Multi-account GAL, named address books

@bulbashenko bulbashenko released this 12 Jun 14:08

What's new in 0.3.0

Named address books per account

Each OWA sign-in now creates its own address book named after the organisation it belongs to (derived from the mailbox email domain, e.g. contoso.com). No more generic "Exchange GAL".

Multiple accounts from different tenants

Sign into more than one mailbox and each gets its own named GAL — they coexist side by side in Thunderbird's address book list. Token capture, silent refresh, and search all work independently per account.

Personal contacts per account

Contacts sync now writes to "Contacts — <org>", so each account's personal contacts land in their own book.

Options page — Accounts section

A new Accounts panel lists every signed-in account with its live-token status, lets you Rename the address book, Sync contacts, or Remove the account entirely.

Seamless migration

Existing single-account installs are migrated automatically on first load — the old token becomes an account and the correct address book name is derived.

Install

  1. Download directorium-0.3.0.xpi below.
  2. Thunderbird → Tools → Developer Tools → Debug Add-ons → Load Temporary Add-on… → pick the .xpi.
  3. Open Directorium settings → Account type → OWA web login → Add account (sign in).

⚠️ Unsigned build — requires temporary load or self-signing. Renaming an address book takes effect after a Thunderbird restart.

Fixes the add-on name length so it passes validation and loads. Use this build.

Directorium 0.2.2

@bulbashenko bulbashenko released this 10 Jun 13:35

Removes the unused cookies permission. Functionally identical to 0.2.1.

Directorium 0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@bulbashenko bulbashenko released this 10 Jun 13:33

Fixes the manifest name length (45-char limit) so the add-on loads correctly.

Install (temporary): Thunderbird → Tools → Developer Tools → Debug Add-ons → Load Temporary Add-on… → pick manifest.json (or use the attached .xpi).

Note: the "addressBooks permission invalid" message from the Firefox-based validator is a benign warning — Thunderbird fully supports it. The .xpi is unsigned, so it installs temporarily; permanent install needs signing via addons.thunderbird.net.

@bulbashenko bulbashenko released this 10 Jun 13:25

First public release — free Exchange/Office 365 GAL & contacts for Thunderbird.

Features

  • GAL search (type a name in any recipient field, or search the "Exchange GAL" book)
  • Personal contacts sync into a browsable address book
  • OWA web-login token capture — works on locked tenants (no admin, no app registration)
  • EWS (OAuth/Basic) + Autodiscover backends
  • Background token auto-refresh

Install (temporary): Thunderbird → Tools → Developer Tools → Debug Add-ons → Load Temporary Add-on… → pick manifest.json from source, or use the attached .xpi.

Note: Thunderbird requires signing for permanent install; the .xpi is unsigned (load temporarily, or self-sign via addons.thunderbird.net).
