edstem-cli 0.8.0

Act on threads, archive a forum, and sign in from any Ed region. This release adds thread actions, an unread filter, a per-unit --since last cursor, a Markdown export, and AU, US and EU support with the region detected from the token.

Highlights

  • Thread actions: edstem threads star|unstar|watch|unwatch|upvote|unvote|mark-read|mark-unread. Each one prints a plan, asks before writing, and honours --yes and --dry-run. A thread already in the requested state gets no write.
  • What's new since last time: edstem threads UNIT --since last keeps a cursor per unit. --unread filters on Ed's own read state.
  • Forum export: edstem threads export UNIT --dest ./archive writes an index, one Markdown file per thread, and the attachments, with links rewritten to the local copies. An interrupted export resumes where it stopped.
  • Ed regions: edstem auth login tries the token against AU, US and EU and keeps the region that accepts it. It only asks when it cannot tell. --region or EDSTEM_REGION sets the region explicitly. The CLI and the local edstem-mcp both use the saved region.

Sign-in

  • Login opens the token page in your browser (--no-browser to skip) and links the right page for your region.
  • A failed login says whether Ed rejected the token or could not be reached, and lets you retry, paste another token, pick another region, or cancel.
  • edstem auth status reports the region and where it came from: environment, file or default.
  • Login warns when EDSTEM_TOKEN, EDSTEM_REGION or EDSTEM_BASE_URL will override what it saves.
  • Credentials are written atomically.
  • edstem-mcp no longer saves an unverified token typed into a terminal. Run edstem auth login instead.

Upgrade

npm install -g edstem-cli@0.8.0

Or, from an earlier release:

edstem update

The token file is now JSON with the token and its region. Token files from earlier versions keep working and are read as AU. The hosted MCP server at edstem.tuuhub.com is still AU-only. On US or EU Ed, use the local edstem-mcp.
