varManager v2.0.0 — Complete Architecture Overhaul

We are excited to announce varManager v2.0.0, a major release that rebuilds the application from the ground up. This release represents months of development to deliver a modern, high-performance VAR package manager for Virt-A-Mate, combining a Flutter frontend with a robust Rust backend.

🏗️ New Architecture

This version transitions from C# WinForms to a modern tech stack, resulting in a faster, lighter application with no runtime dependencies (no .NET required) and no administrator rights needed for normal operations.

  • Data Portability: Export/Import installed var lists for easy sharing or backup.

🎬 Scenes & Analysis

  • Kanban Board: Organize scenes with a 3-column drag-and-drop board (Hide / Normal / Favorites).
  • Deep Analysis: Inspect scenes with an atom tree view, dependency tracking, and person details.
  • Smart Caching: Analysis results are cached for performance, with options to clear cache manually.

🌐 Hub & Built-in Downloader

  • Enhanced Browsing: Tag search with filter chips, card views with ratings/version info, and detail dialogs.
  • Download Manager:
    • Full queue management (Pause/Resume/Cancel/Retry).
    • Concurrent downloads with configurable limits.
    • Hub Cache: Reduces redundant requests to the Hub API.
    • List Builder: Calculate total size before downloading and copy links for external tools.

🔍 Dependency & Link Management

  • Missing Dependencies: Scan from multiple sources (installed packages, saves folder, VaM log).
  • Link Substitution: Draft and apply link mappings with a dedicated detail panel.
  • Native Symlinks: Creates symbolic links without requiring Administrator privileges.

🔄 Migration from v1.0.4.x

Your data is safe. varManager will not delete your var packages. v2.0.0 uses the same SQLite database format as the previous version. You simply need to run the new version in your existing varManager folder and rebuild the database.

Note regarding Legacy Version: The old C# version (v1.0.4.x) has been moved to the _archived/ folder. It requires .NET 9.0 to run and is no longer maintained.

Quick Start

  1. Download and extract the release package.
  2. Run varManager.exe.
  3. Follow the onboarding wizard to configure your VaM paths.
  4. Click Update DB to scan your var files.

🔧 Configuration Tips

  • Proxy Support: Configure HTTP proxy in Settings (System auto-detect or Manual) for Hub downloads.
  • Paths:
    • varspath: Your VaM AddonPackages directory.
    • vampath: Your main VaM installation path.

🐛 Known Issues

  • Windows First: macOS and Linux builds are not yet available in this release.
  • Hub Limits: Some VaM Hub resources may encounter rate limiting during heavy bulk downloads.

🔄 从 v1.0.4.x 迁移

您的数据是安全的。varManager 不会删除你的var包 v2.0.0 使用与旧版完全兼容的 SQLite 数据库格式。您只需在现有 varManager 文件夹中运行新版本并重建数据库即可。
