T&R is a FreeBSD 15 distribution assembled rather than installed — built from
pkgbase, so making a root filesystem is pkg -r <dir> install. No source tree, no
buildworld, no release tarballs.

These are the first published images.

asset what it is size
tandr-0.2.qcow2 server — sshd, cron, serial console 364 MB, 50 packages
tandr-0.3.qcow2 0.2 plus the verifiable stack (TRVM + trvs) 626 MB, 56 packages

0.3 is 0.2 with the runtime and verifier aboard — the extra 262 MB is almost entirely
the python interpreter the stack runs on, which is why it is a build option rather than
the default.

Verified

Both images were booted from these exact files before publishing:

  • tandr-0.2 — FreeBSD 15.1-RELEASE-p2, 50 packages, sshd up, no stack (correct)
  • tandr-0.3 — 56 packages, trvs doctorstatus ready, and it derives
sem-8ae91fe9cbc5fd08… for its demo world — the same identity the same command
prints on an Arch Linux workstation

Not verified

Neither image has ever been booted on real hardware. Every T&R boot on record is a
QEMU/KVM guest. Writing one to a USB stick or an internal disk should work — it is a
GPT image with a UEFI ESP — but nobody has done it, so it is untested rather than
supported.

Why it is small

FreeBSD's own cloud image is 2.51 GB with 504 packages and writes ~3 GB to its overlay
on first boot. A T&R server instance writes 51 MB, because the image is already
patched and does not re-download its own base every time it starts. Deliberately absent:
FreeBSD-tests (~200 MB), every -dbg package, every lib32 package.

Desktop

The desktop flavour (X.org, icewm, the RRABBIT road shell) is ~5.2 GB and does not fit
GitHub's 2 GB per-file limit. Build it yourself:
