Tuple's biggest update yet: record real performances into your track, get a full harmonic companion on the Push 2, hover-to-preview your progression, plus a reworked voicing engine and a lighter codebase.

✨ New

Perform & Capture (CHORDIFY) — Record a real take into your Tuple track, with rhythm. Play your chord triggers live on a MIDI keyboard while Ableton records them on the Tuple track (one note = one chord trigger). Then click CHORDIFY: Tuple rewrites the clip so every trigger note becomes its full chord — voiced exactly as Tuple would play it, voice-leading included. Because Live did the recording, your timing, feel and note lengths are preserved natively — no flat, "static" clip. Don't like the take? Undo and CHORDIFY again with a different voicing or voice-leading mode.

Push 2 — Progression mode — A harmonic companion right on the pads. Capture a chord progression, then hit PROG: your progression lines up across the bottom row, and above each chord — in its own column — Tuple shows that chord's options. Cycle MODE between three:

  • Substitutes — chords that can take its place without breaking the harmony (same harmonic function + quality variants; relative major/minor come for free).
  • Next chords — the strongest chords to play after it, from Tuple's smart engine.
  • Voicings — the same chord, re-voiced.

Press a pad to hear an option. Turn CAPTURE on and a press edits the progression in place: Substitutes and Voicings replace the chord under that column, Next-chords insert after it. Build and reshape a whole progression without touching the mouse. (Device-only — requires a Push 2.)

Progression preview on hover — Hover any chord card in the progression drawer to preview it: its name and notes light up the monitor, with no sound and no commitment — exactly like hovering a cell in the chord grid. Click-and-hold still auditions it.

🔧 Improvements

  • Voicing engine, reworked. All 28 voicings rebuilt — each is now a coherent one-hand grip in a single register, with its own ear-tested identity (Organ / St Germain, Broken / Dego–Kaidi Tatham, French Touch / Daft Punk, Soul / D'Angelo, and more). Renamed Nu-House → New Jazz and Jamiroquai → Clav; Trap removed. Cold-start register fixes for several voicings (rootless and others) so the very first chord lands in the intended octave. Voicing and Layout are now drop-down menus.
  • Smart suggestions now follow your progression. Auditioning a captured chord updates the on-screen grid and the suggestion heat-map, so the next-chord hints stay in sync with what you're hearing.
  • Extended chords (EXT), tightened. Fixed register drift between degrees (no more chords jumping an octave too high or too low), and the smart suggestions now use the exact same extended voicings as playback — what you see is what you'll hear.
  • Lighter under the hood. Removed dead code and unified the internal chord-spec pipeline — same sound, leaner engine.

🐞 Fixes

  • Progression → Clip. Writing a progression to a clip slot now uses Live 11/12's current note API — on recent Live versions it could silently write an empty clip. Fixed (CLIP button in the progression drawer).
  • The note monitor and hover preview now show the exact chord that plays (no more hover / play mismatch); new sessions default to C Major.

⬇️ Updating

Existing users: open Tuple in Ableton — the update badge appears on the logo. This release updates the device file, so click Install to run the installer (Windows launches it for you; on macOS, re-run Install Tuple.command). Or re-download from https://tuple.live.
