Telegram Drive Android Update
This Android release brings the redesigned mobile experience, better share-sheet intake, improved transfer handling, encryption support, stronger localization, and several reliability fixes.
Highlights
New modern mobile interface based on the Quiet Utility redesign.
Android share sheet support for files shared from Files by Google and other file managers.
Shared files are cached locally and shown in Settings as “Shared Files,” ready to upload into the selected Telegram Drive folder.
Support for single-file and multi-file Android share intents.
Cold-start share handling so files shared into a closed app are detected when Telegram Drive opens.
Warm-start share handling so files shared while the app is already running are detected immediately.
Foreground upload service support for more reliable Android uploads.
Verified Android download publishing through Android MediaStore.
Opt-in encrypted upload support, including Android shared files.
13-language selection support with system language detection.
Updated Android file rows, bottom navigation, action sheets, settings, folder drawer, transfer views, and safe-area spacing.
Improved Android proxy settings UI and mobile-specific SOCKS5 messaging.
Better handling for Android content URIs by copying shared/picked files into app cache before upload.
New Android Share Sheet Flow
Telegram Drive now registers as a share target for Android ACTION_SEND and ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE.
Shared files are copied from Android content:// URIs into the app cache before upload.
The app tracks pending shared files when launched from a cold start.
The app listens for new shared files while already open.
Shared files appear in the mobile Settings area with filename, size, upload action, and clear action.
Uploading a cached shared file respects the currently selected folder and encryption settings.
Uploads and Downloads
Added Android foreground upload service commands to keep active uploads more stable.
Upload queues now integrate with Android cached-share uploads.
Android downloads are published through MediaStore after verification.
Download publication checks file existence, size, copy integrity, and cleans up incomplete MediaStore entries on failure.
Android file picker and share-sheet uploads now use pre-cached local files to avoid background ContentResolver access failures.
Encryption
Added opt-in TDENC2 encrypted uploads on Android.
Standard uploads remain the default.
Android cached-share uploads respect the selected default encryption mode.
Supported modes include Standard, Vault, File Passphrase, and Vault + File Passphrase.
Added encryption settings to the mobile settings experience.
Added protected-file badges and protected-name behavior on mobile.
Added localized encryption key-loss disclaimer before vault creation.
Encrypted previews, media playback, archive browsing, sharing, and REST plaintext access remain intentionally disabled until secure credential-scoped implementations are complete.
