Oh yeah, I just noticed that quickshell entirely seems to crash when I submit a password, and being the lockscreen, get the hyprland whoops screen. Fingerprint works perfectly fine however so didn't notice it at first

e.g.

hyprctl keyword bindl 'Super, U, global, caelestia:unlock'

Then use caelestia shell -l or qs -c caelestia log to get the logs.

Now, instead of ERROR: it says PW ERROR: Also, when the system starts, when the system UI starts to appear, it lags for about 30 seconds, and after this time, the UI loads normally. And for some reason, the power profile selection works intermittently (every second when the system starts up)

as far as I can tell, theres a prePatch in the nix derivatios where it points pam file to somewhere in /run/sw/... (NixOs only path). So I think its because of this caelestia shell lock can't work in your system. I'll check this and confirm you.

well, the /run/curren-system substitution is only for fprint, in "passwd" file, there's mention to pam shared libs but they can be found without any issue on NixOs, idk very well how works pam, but I think the pam in /nix is not valid in your Debian system, only the pam of the system itself, so the pam may be failing because its reading from /nix

NixOS/nixpkgs#128523 (comment) it seems theres no common solution for this, see the issue and the comment, I have no experience with pam but I understood that's a configuration problem with Nix PAM module with /etc/pam.d (on Debian or Ubuntu). Try to test the workaround in the comment and see if this works

Hmm, the shell ships its own pam config which doesn't use any include directives, so it should work fine. I've also tested it on my own nix system (when I made the lock and for a while after) and it worked fine.

Could if your normal pam login configuration works, could you send it here please?

The problem is the nix package on non-NixOs machines, I don't know how the system pam config can interfere in this, but I think there is an interferenfe somehow
