QuotaLantern v0.1.0-alpha.4 — alerts for announced Codex resets and reset hints
QuotaLantern Linux source preview: Codex reset announcements now alert you before a reset is confirmed.
Announced resets. When Codex Resets lists a scheduled reset (announced, not yet confirmed), QuotaLantern notifies once, including one already pending when you turn the feature on. Past resets found on the first check stay silent. Banked announcements say they are a credit you apply when you choose, not an automatic limit reset.
Reset hints. Codex Resets' AI forecasts that a reset may come now notify when new or when the signal gets stronger, labeled as unconfirmed forecasts; expired hints never notify. Turn them off with Settings → Providers → Announcements → Alert on reset hints (on by default, active only while announcements are enabled).
Announcements stay opt-in and off by default. Data is third-party, not affiliated with OpenAI, credited with a link, checked at most every 15 minutes with no account data sent, and never feeds the tray ring or any quota.
Validation: 130 synthetic offline tests passed; CI on Python 3.12 and 3.14 passed. Installed on KDE Plasma/Wayland with announcements enabled: the first check recorded the live scheduled banked reset with no runtime or notification errors logged. The extracted source archive passes the public checks and the offline suite.
Install or upgrade: requires existing Python 3.12+, GTK 3 GI, Ayatana AppIndicator, Notify, Bash and util-linux flock. Close the running app, then run bash install.sh --dry-run and bash install.sh; settings, data and enabled providers are preserved and a rollback command is printed.
Known limits: the native notification popup was not reviewed on screen; native pixel/hover, GNOME and high-DPI visual QA remain pending. Provider qualification and service terms remain per-adapter. No credentials are bundled.
Original contributions are MIT; upstream Peter Steinberger/MIT notices and dependency boundaries are preserved. Source archive only; system libraries are not bundled.

QuotaLantern v0.1.0-alpha.3 — redesigned interface and Codex reset announcements
QuotaLantern Linux source preview with a redesigned interface and optional Codex reset announcements.
Interface. The Overview window mirrors the tray ring with the same SVG states, uses word badges (Fresh, Stale, Error, Not connected, Spend), colors bars by your warning/critical levels and greys out unconfirmed readings. It follows the desktop light/dark theme and adds loading/empty states, refresh feedback and F5/Ctrl+R/Esc. The tray menu leads with the ring context and keeps main actions at the top level; color is reserved for confirmed readings. Settings use sidebar pages with switches and one-line explanations, validate alert levels before saving and show credential files by presence and permissions only.
Codex reset announcements (opt-in). Settings → Providers → Announcements. When enabled, QuotaLantern reads the free public API of Codex Resets at most every 15 minutes (ETag, Retry-After), sending no account data. These are global resets announced for paid Codex plans, classified by that third-party site and not affiliated with OpenAI. They get their own attributed Overview card and menu item, notify once per new reset and never feed the tray ring or any quota.
Website. Redesigned as an instrument data sheet: annotated live ring, Overview demo with synthetic scenarios, ring-state and adapter-verification tables, and an app tour with real offscreen GTK captures.
Validation: 128 synthetic offline tests passed; CI on Python 3.12 and 3.14 passed. Installed and run on KDE Plasma/Wayland: --check ready, tray item registered, no runtime errors. GTK windows were reviewed through offscreen renders with synthetic data.
Codex Resets stays off until you turn it on.
Known limits: native pixel/hover, GNOME and high-DPI visual QA remain pending; the native notification popup and the new menu item were not reviewed on screen. The website was checked in Chromium only. Provider qualification and service terms remain per-adapter. No credentials are bundled.
Original contributions are MIT; upstream Peter Steinberger/MIT notices and dependency boundaries are preserved. Source archive only; system libraries are not bundled.

QuotaLantern v0.1.0-alpha.2 — proportional quota tray
QuotaLantern Linux source preview with an at-a-glance proportional quota ring around the approved Facho mark. The ring shows one identified recent subscription window: the largest reported consumed fraction is an attention rule, never a total or average across services. Unknown and stale use separate neutral shapes. App/launcher branding remains A/Facho.
Validation: 72 synthetic offline tests passed; CI on Python 3.12 and 3.14 passed. Synthetic native Plasma QA registered the tray, loaded SVGs at 16/24 px, and exercised 0/50/100%, unknown, stale and mixed providers without provider requests. The installed code matches this source commit.
Requires existing Python 3.12+, GTK 3 GI, Ayatana AppIndicator, Notify, Bash and util-linux flock. bash install.sh --dry-run checks requirements without downloads or provider startup. bash install.sh preserves existing settings/data/providers and prints rollback instructions. Close the existing app before using the public installer. Fresh installs enable only Codex; other adapters are deliberate opt-ins. Compatible codexbar-linux and quotalantern commands share a singleton lock.
Known limits: native pixel/hover, GNOME and high-DPI visual QA remain pending. This host's Ayatana binding lacks dedicated tooltip properties; source/age/window context is exported via Title/IconAccessibleDesc and shown in the menu. Ayatana reports a deprecation warning. Provider qualification and service terms remain per-adapter. Gemini API requires explicit key/project configuration; Gemini subscription OAuth refresh requires existing legacy same-client metadata or explicit client metadata/owning CLI refresh. No credentials are bundled.
Original contributions are MIT; upstream Peter Steinberger/MIT notices and dependency boundaries are preserved. Source archive only; system libraries are not bundled.
