English fan-translation of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Gaiden (PS2, JP serial SLPS-25836).

0.2.5 is a cumulative release that finishes localizing the last visible Japanese text, on top of 0.2.4:

  • The Spirit (精神) menu's bottom legend is now English. The reference strip along the bottom of the Spirit panel was a row of 21 single Japanese kanji; it now reads the English spirit abbreviations (VaFlGu…SyDrv). The menu animates normally (the 0.2.3 crash stays fixed) and all status text remains English.
  • Terrain tile names are now English. The unit-detail overlay (terrain name above Def % / Eva % / HP Regen % / EN Regen %) used to show the Japanese terrain name — 荒野, 平地, 宇宙空間, 道路, … All 148 terrain types are now concise English (e.g. 荒野 → "Wastes", 平地 → "Flatland", 宇宙空間 → "Space", 道路 → "Road").
  • The boot / credits slide now reads "Release Version 0.2.5".

Everything from 0.2.4 (per-unit Ai / La / Se terrain glyphs), 0.2.3 (Spirit-menu crash fix), 0.2.2 (centered command menu), 0.2.1 (full-width Objective screen), and 0.2 (English chapter splashes, status-screen fixes, battle banners, English boot slide) is included. The whole game is translated and playable end to end.

Get it / apply it

  1. Download SRW_OG_Gaiden_EN_v0_2_5.xdelta below.
  2. You must supply your own legally-dumped JP disc (SLPS-25836). Verify it first — md5 cb7dc4485f46f220c46095c966a3aad0, size 4,666,294,272 bytes.
  3. Apply with xdelta3 (or Delta Patcher on Windows). Full instructions + all checksums are in the repo README and in the attached CHECKSUMS_v0_2_5.txt.

Patched result: md5 c0e0efcdd9961c158f399b711f9b06f0, game CRC 6C5AA761. Round-trip verified — applying the patch to the JP base reproduces the result ISO byte-for-byte. The boot ELF is unchanged from 0.2.4, so the CRC is the same.

Known minor cosmetic items

  • A small footer button-hint label (the △ "Details" hint on the unit-status / list screens) shows a few garbled pixels — it's a pre-rendered graphic, not text.
  • The last two spirit-legend entries (Sy / Drv) slightly overlap the R3 button-hint icon; the Spirit panel's 自/単 (Auto / Single) mode toggle stays Japanese.
  • A few long terrain names are abbreviated to fit the on-screen box.
