OG Gaiden English Translation — v0.2.7
English fan-translation of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Gaiden (PS2, JP serial SLPS-25836).
The whole game is translated and playable end to end. 0.2.7 is a cumulative release that cleans up the Ally Unit List on top of 0.2.6.

⚠️ Known remaining work (cosmetic only — no readable Japanese)
These are the last rough edges. They are not text — they are a UI sprite-font that has no Latin glyphs, so the affected cells render as hatched pixel noise. Fixing them needs an art/font-cell edit (an execution-breakpoint trace to find the glyph table), not a string edit, so they are deferred. No Japanese text is left on screen.
Footer button-hint labels — the button icons (START, L3, R3, L1/R1, L2/R2) draw fine, but the little labels beside them render as noise:
Ally Unit List "Movement / Type" page — the column headers overlap and the per-unit movement-rank separators (\) are garbled (the La = Land values themselves are correct):

What changed in 0.2.7
- The Ally Unit List no longer shows
\\\\\under each unit. For unnamed mass-produced units (like the prologue's "MP Gespenst Mk-II"), the sub-pilot line was a placeholder of five full-width minus signs (−−−−−). Because the English font is ASCII-ordered, the full-width minus mapped to the backslash glyph, so it rendered as\\\\\. It now reads-----, matching the game's own empty-slot style (e.g. "2 -----"). All eleven full-width-minus runs in the boot ELF's UI string table were converted in place to ASCII dashes.
⚠️ This is the first 0.2.x release to edit the boot ELF, so the PCSX2 game CRC changes from6C5AA761to6C5AF6E0. Save states made on 0.2.6 (or earlier) will not load on 0.2.7 — start from a memory-card save or a New Game.

OG Gaiden English Translation — v0.2.6
English fan-translation of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Gaiden (PS2, JP serial SLPS-25836).
0.2.6 is a cumulative release that removes the last readable Japanese from the Spirit menu, on top of 0.2.5:
- The Spirit (精神) target-mode line is now English. Under each spirit's effect text the panel showed the spell's target scope as Japanese kanji —
−自/単. It now reads−Slf/Sgl−. The full set of target types is localized: Slf (self), Sgl (single), All, Aly (ally), Foe, Sqd (squad), Ptr (partner). This was a pure data edit to the target-type table, so the Spirit-menu crash fix from 0.2.3 is completely untouched — the menu still animates normally. - A few over-wide status labels were shortened so their values stop overlapping them in the unit-detail overlay: "Support Attack" → "Sup Atk", "Support Defend" → "Sup Def", "Unit Movement" → "Movement".
Everything from 0.2.5 (Spirit-menu legend VaFlGu…SyDrv + English terrain tile names like 荒野 → "Wastes"), 0.2.4 (per-unit Ai / La / Se terrain glyphs), 0.2.3 (Spirit-menu crash fix), 0.2.2 (centered command menu), 0.2.1 (full-width Objective screen), and 0.2 (English chapter splashes, status-screen fixes, battle banners, English boot slide) is included. Known minor cosmetic items
- The small footer button-hint labels (L1/R1/L2/R2 and the △ "Details" hint) and the per-unit movement-rank glyphs in the unit-detail overlay render as a few garbled pixels — they're drawn through the small UI sprite-font, which has no Latin glyphs for them (font/art work, not editable text).
- The last two Spirit-legend entries (Sy / Drv) slightly graze the R3 button-hint icon.
- A few long terrain names are abbreviated to fit the on-screen box.

0.2.5 is a cumulative release that finishes localizing the last visible Japanese text, on top of 0.2.4:
- The Spirit (精神) menu's bottom legend is now English. The reference strip along the bottom of the Spirit panel was a row of 21 single Japanese kanji; it now reads the English spirit abbreviations (
VaFlGu…SyDrv). The menu animates normally (the 0.2.3 crash stays fixed) and all status text remains English. - Terrain tile names are now English. The unit-detail overlay (terrain name above Def % / Eva % / HP Regen % / EN Regen %) used to show the Japanese terrain name — 荒野, 平地, 宇宙空間, 道路, … All 148 terrain types are now concise English (e.g. 荒野 → "Wastes", 平地 → "Flatland", 宇宙空間 → "Space", 道路 → "Road").
- The boot / credits slide now reads "Release Version 0.2.5".
Everything from 0.2.4 (per-unit Ai / La / Se terrain glyphs), 0.2.3 (Spirit-menu crash fix), 0.2.2 (centered command menu), 0.2.1 (full-width Objective screen), and 0.2 (English chapter splashes, status-screen fixes, battle banners, English boot slide) is included. OG Gaiden English Translation — v0.2.4
English fan-translation of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Gaiden (PS2, JP serial SLPS-25836).
0.2.4 is a cumulative bug-fix release that rolls up two fixes on top of 0.2.2:
- Spirit (精神) menu no longer crashes the game (0.2.3). In every previous English build, choosing Spirit on a unit's command menu opened a blank panel and froze the game (it worked fine on the unmodified Japanese disc). The cause was a handful of pointer-table entries the translation tool had corrupted in one overlay file; those slots are now restored while keeping every English label, so the Spirit menu works and all menu/status text stays English.
- Per-unit terrain glyphs are now English (0.2.4). A unit's air / land / water terrain compatibility was rendered as raw Japanese kanji (空 / 陸 / 水) that the English font turned into garbage — most visible in the Ally Unit List ("Movement / Type" page). The terrain column now reads Ai / La / Se, matching the unit Status screen.
Everything from 0.2.2 (centered command menu), 0.2.1 (full-width Objective screen), and 0.2 (English chapter splashes, status-screen fixes, battle banners, English boot slide) is included. The whole game is translated and playable end to end.

- Importing a Japanese save (or an older mid-stage suspend save) can show baked-in Japanese objective text — start a New Game on the patched ISO for the fully-English experience.

OG Gaiden English Translation — v0.2.2
English fan-translation of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Gaiden (PS2, JP serial SLPS-25836).
0.2.2 centers the in-battle command menu. Since 0.2 the map command list (End Turn / Search / Units / Objective / Records / System / Save) was drawn with the proportional font but still positioned with the old fixed-width centering, so every label clipped the panel's left edge. Each item is now re-centered for its true variable-width pixel width. (ELF-only change; game data unchanged. Boot-ELF CRC changes 4EDB8F5B → 6C5A18B3.)
Everything from 0.2.1 (in-battle Objective screen full-width via MAP relocation) and 0.2 (English splash screens, menu spacing, status-screen fixes, battle banners, boot slide) is included.
Continuing an older save? The 0.2.1 Objective fix applies to objectives loaded fresh from the disc — a New Game, or reaching the next stage. Objective text already baked into a mid-stage suspend save made on an older build keeps the old wrapping until you advance a stage. That's a property of the save, not the patch (a fresh New Game shows the full-width objective).

OG Gaiden English Translation — v0.2.1
English fan-translation of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Gaiden (PS2, JP serial SLPS-25836).
0.2.1 is a polish release over 0.2. What changed:
- In-battle Objective screen now uses the full panel width. The win/loss/skill conditions previously wrapped to only ~1/3 of the wide green panel (e.g. "1. Destroy all / enemies."). The patch author's translation tool had baked hard line-breaks (sized for a much narrower box) into the objective text. Fixed properly via MAP pointer-table relocation — the conditions are re-wrapped with real full-width spaces, so the screen now reads "1. Destroy all enemies." / "1. An allied unit is shot down." / "- Meet the victory conditions within / 3 turns." on full lines. (Pure data change, byte-for-byte same size, no risk to game stability.)
- Chapter splash titles redrawn crisp flat-white on the black card (the 0.2 rendering was low-contrast/soft).
- Battle command-menu labels now fit their buttons — "Battle Report"→"Records", "Objectives"→"Objective", and the status line "Skill Points"→"Skill Pts" so it no longer collides with its value.

0.2 is a defect-fix release over the 0.1 playtest. What changed:
- Chapter-intro splash screens are now in English — every chapter title card ("Frozen Past" … "Ragnarok") plus the per-chapter "Episode N" label (these were pre-rendered Japanese images baked into the disc).
- Menu / UI text spacing corrected — the Intermission/menu drawer now uses the same proportional font metric as the story dialogue.
- A long list of 0.1 status-screen & battle-overlay glitches fixed — unit-status tabs, terrain-adaptation ratings, pilot/weapon panel overlaps, pilot-name spacing, centered system messages, battle/Shuffle-Battler banners, and the English boot/Creamhouse slide. See CHANGELOG.md.

Known cosmetic issues (targeted for the next patch)
A few rough edges remain and don't block play: the Chapter-1 splash edges look a little banded, long Objective-screen lines wrap early and its header is slightly cramped, and the battle (map) menu items / Turn-Funds-Skill-Points readout sit slightly off. Reports welcome → open an issue.
Non-commercial fan project. Do not sell the patch or patched discs. Distribute the patch only, never the ISO.
