English fan-translation of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Gaiden (PS2, JP serial SLPS-25836).

0.2.6 is a cumulative release that removes the last readable Japanese from the Spirit menu, on top of 0.2.5:

  • The Spirit (精神) target-mode line is now English. Under each spirit's effect text the panel showed the spell's target scope as Japanese kanji — −自/単. It now reads −Slf/Sgl−. The full set of target types is localized: Slf (self), Sgl (single), All, Aly (ally), Foe, Sqd (squad), Ptr (partner). This was a pure data edit to the target-type table, so the Spirit-menu crash fix from 0.2.3 is completely untouched — the menu still animates normally.
  • A few over-wide status labels were shortened so their values stop overlapping them in the unit-detail overlay: "Support Attack" → "Sup Atk", "Support Defend" → "Sup Def", "Unit Movement" → "Movement".

Everything from 0.2.5 (Spirit-menu legend VaFlGu…SyDrv + English terrain tile names like 荒野 → "Wastes"), 0.2.4 (per-unit Ai / La / Se terrain glyphs), 0.2.3 (Spirit-menu crash fix), 0.2.2 (centered command menu), 0.2.1 (full-width Objective screen), and 0.2 (English chapter splashes, status-screen fixes, battle banners, English boot slide) is included. The whole game is translated and playable end to end.

Get it / apply it

  1. Download SRW_OG_Gaiden_EN_v0_2_6.xdelta below.
  2. You must supply your own legally-dumped JP disc (SLPS-25836). Verify it first — md5 cb7dc4485f46f220c46095c966a3aad0, size 4,666,294,272 bytes.
  3. Apply with xdelta3 (or Delta Patcher on Windows). Full instructions + all checksums are in the repo README and in the attached CHECKSUMS_v0_2_6.txt.

Patched result: md5 4abedac1ffb874145a174e142fd76934, game CRC 6C5AA761. Round-trip verified — applying the patch to the JP base reproduces the result ISO byte-for-byte. The boot ELF is unchanged from 0.2.5, so the CRC is the same.

Known minor cosmetic items

  • The small footer button-hint labels (L1/R1/L2/R2 and the △ "Details" hint) and the per-unit movement-rank glyphs in the unit-detail overlay render as a few garbled pixels — they're drawn through the small UI sprite-font, which has no Latin glyphs for them (font/art work, not editable text).
  • The last two Spirit-legend entries (Sy / Drv) slightly graze the R3 button-hint icon.
  • A few long terrain names are abbreviated to fit the on-screen box.
