Logbook September 2026

Week of Aug 31st — The first scheduled Amaru runs showed the check-observation layer disagreeing with what the bootstrap actually publishes. Tuesday aligned observation with the real check surface and stopped treating a guarded integration as a failure, and Friday taught the observer to keep waiting on a check that is still running.

Tuesday 1st

Observing the real bootstrap check surface (PV)

The daily Amaru flow was looking for checks the bootstrap does not publish, so #234 makes it observe the surface amaru-bootstrap actually emits. #235 fixes a related misclassification: a guarded integration that has not yet run is reported as awaiting rather than failed. Both merged the next day.

Friday 4th

Running checks stay observed (PV)

A check that is still running is no longer read as final: #239 keeps polling it until it reports. It merged the following Monday.

Week of Sep 7th — Attention moves from check observation to the Nix-built images the scheduled runs consume. Tuesday traced wrong creation dates and missing provenance in the Nix image harness and fixed them the same day; Wednesday promoted validated Nix images into the scheduled Cardano runs, merged on Thursday. Two follow-ups stay open: adopting an already-pinned bootstrap source and letting a correct no-op stay green.

Monday 7th

No-op handling (PV)

#239 merged. #240 was opened so that a correct no-op run stays green instead of reading as a failure.

Tuesday 8th

Nix image timestamps and provenance (PV)

Images built by the Nix harness carried build-time dates and no source provenance, which breaks reproducible comparison. #241 was opened and closed the same day through #242, which stamps images with source time and records provenance. #243 tracks hardening the proof layer around it, and #244 opened a fix to adopt an already-pinned bootstrap source.

Wednesday 9th

Promoting validated Nix images (PV)

#246 opened: validated Nix images are promoted into the scheduled Cardano runs, and the promotion is recorded in the docs. It merged on Thursday.

Week of Sep 21st — The long-running Cardano Node master HEAD effort lands its first stage: the immutable candidate pipeline reaches merge after a single day of concentrated work.

Thursday 24th

Immutable Cardano Node HEAD candidate (PV)

#217, open since August, merged after a large day of work on #215: a real transport for the master HEAD candidate, a local cluster proof run from a throwaway execution copy, observable and self-censused cluster teardown, a manual dispatch workflow, and an operator guide. Candidate image lines are anchored on the registry digest. The next stage, #216 (one daily three-hour run with a receipt), was planned and #247 opened.

Week of Sep 28th — Hardening the report path and finishing the daily Cardano Node HEAD run. Tuesday stopped a signed report capability from leaking through logs, and Thursday (see October) merged the daily three-hour run.

Tuesday 29th

Report URL capability kept out of logs (PV)

The wait-for-test log printed the report URL with its signed capability. It is now stripped, and a test executes the MOOG correlation step and sweeps every produced artifact for the capability.
