Keyboard shortcuts

These shortcuts work on any page once a document is loaded in the player.

Space, K	Play or pause
←, →	Previous or next sentence
Shift ←, Shift →	Previous or next section
[, ]	Slower or faster
B	Bookmark the sentence being read (again to remove it)
?	Show keyboard shortcuts

In each row, the first key does the first action and the second key the second (for example, ← goes to the previous sentence and → to the next).

Good to know

• Speed steps. [ and ] move through the playback speeds 0.75×, 0.9×, 1×, 1.1×, 1.25×, 1.5×, 1.75× and 2×. The new speed is saved as your default.
• When shortcuts are ignored. They don't fire while you're typing in a field, inside a dialog, or while a button, link, slider or other control has focus, so Space still presses the focused button. They're also ignored while Ctrl, Alt or Cmd is held.
• The shortcut list. Press ? or, on wide screens, the keyboard button in the player bar.
• Media controls. Where your browser supports it, the lock screen and other system media controls can play and pause, and their previous and next track buttons move one sentence back or forward.
