Notes2U is a lightweight, always-on-top notes app for macOS, built as a standalone alternative for anyone who wants quick notes without running a full productivity launcher.

Why Notes2U?

• Quick notes are useful, but keeping a large productivity launcher running for a single notes feature can consume unnecessary resources.

• Notes2U keeps writing close at hand while remaining small, native and focused. Your notes are stored locally on your Mac and can be opened or hidden instantly with a global shortcut.

How it works

1. Open Notes2U.
2. Press Command–Shift–Space to show or hide the notes window from anywhere. You can change this global shortcut in Settings.
3. Use the icons at the top of the window to browse your notes, create a new note or open the More menu.

• Use the formatting toolbar to style text, create lists and checklists, add links or insert attachments.
• If you happen to hide Notes2U and couldn't find the window, find the App icon in Application to open up the setting.

Keyboard shortcuts:

• Command–Shift–Space — Show or hide Notes2U
• Command–N — Create a new note
• Command–P — Browse notes
• Command–F — Find text in the current note
• Command–K — Open Actions -Command–O — Add an attachment
• Command–B — Bold
• Command–I — Italic
• Command–U — Underline
• Command–Shift–S — Strikethrough
• Command–Comma — Open Settings

Notes2U+

• Everything included in Notes2U, plus:
• Unlimited notes
• Lock selected notes using Touch ID
• Create and edit tables
• Change font colours

Notes2U+ shortcuts:

• Command–L — Lock or unlock the selected note
• Command–T — Open the font-colour picker
• Command–Option–T — Insert a table

Requirements

• macOS 14.0 or later
• Touch ID must be configured on your Mac to lock notes in Notes2U+
• No account is required

Privacy

• Notes2U does not require an account.
• Notes and imported attachments are stored locally on your Mac.
• Notes2U does not send your note contents to an external server.
• Locked notes use macOS authentication and Touch ID.
• Deleted notes remain recoverable for up to 60 days unless permanently deleted.
