Flight planning

• Find realistic services in the free offline catalogue of 317,882 observed flight options from April–June 2026. Search airlines by ICAO, IATA or name; use airport lookup and airline-specific aircraft choices.
• Find a flight and Your plan separate search from preparation. You choose the airframe and installed livery; historical registrations are never assigned automatically.
• Automatic simulated passenger or cargo assignments can be overridden. Advanced flight details, briefing and documents remain optional.
• Save draft keeps work locally. Save & open SimBrief transfers supported entries for review and final OFP generation. A missing flight number falls back to the digits in the ATC callsign; an explicit flight number takes priority.
• Catalogue entries are historical observations, not a current timetable. Simulated loads are not airline passenger or cargo manifests.

Map and flight evidence

• Cockpit-action legend rows have a small crosshair button. One point is centered directly; multiple points cycle in recorded order and wrap around, with progress such as 2/16.
• Navigation preserves zoom and viewing angle, shows hidden actions when requested, and resets its cycle when changing flights.
• Uncorroborated ToLiss target telemetry is separated from cockpit-action dots. Independent controls and selections supported by recorded FCU knob motion remain visible.
• Reports > Events > Flight evidence and Map > Legend > Cockpit Actions > View flight evidence open a searchable inspector with separate cockpit-action and system-update filters and full provenance.
• Live and recovery journals retain their evidence metadata. Explicit unknown light or transponder readings clear stale state in scoring and runway-entry analysis. Original recordings are not rewritten.

This beta is unsigned, so Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning. ZIP-only beta updates are installed manually. Automatic update-and-restart requires signed applications from the same verified publisher; those checks remain intact.

Verification and beta limits

The package manifest records passing smoke tests, map regressions and aircraft-model verification. The ZIP checksum was independently recomputed before this draft was created.

Clean-Windows acceptance, ordinary non-owner cloud-account access, remote-machine CPU/memory performance and a new live simulator/replay session have not been confirmed for this package. Keep independent backups of important flight data.

• This distribution now displays PUBLIC BETA in the startup screen and About window.
• Beta update checks use this public downloads repository, including prereleases. A newer release turns the bottom-left version badge green.
• Includes beta installation instructions, release notes, privacy information and third-party notices. The developer tier override is disabled.
• Retains the startup import improvements and quieter handling of temporary background-import storage waits from 0.70.1 and 0.70.2.

1,439 automated checks, all six map regression suites and all eight aircraft-model checks passed. Compilation completed with zero warnings and errors. All 46 ZIP files matched staging and all 435 captured source files matched the build inputs. Private, beta and stable update-channel behavior was checked separately.

FlightWire Logbook 0.70.2 is a Windows x64 public beta patch for update visibility and background import messages.

Changes

• The bottom-left version badge turns green when a newer release is available, including unsigned ZIP-only betas. The tooltip identifies the available version.
• A single quiet update check runs shortly after startup. It does not block loading, open a dialog, download anything or repeatedly poll. Click the version badge or Settings > Check for Logbook updates to open release details.
• An unavailable check no longer implies the installed version is current, and a temporary network failure preserves any update already found.
• Ordinary storage waits during background imports retry without an application-wide warning banner. Actual rejected reports remain visible.
• Includes the startup performance and public update-feed fixes from 0.70.1.

Download the ZIP under Assets, close Logbook, extract the complete archive into a writable application folder, and run its FlightWire.Logbook.exe. Check that the footer shows 0.70.2. Keep a current backup of your flight data. No separate .NET installation is required; Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is required for maps, SimBrief and PDF views.

0.70.0 requires a manual download: its embedded update URL targets the private source repository. 0.70.1 can discover 0.70.2 through its manual update check, but lacks the automatic green badge added in this release. The green badge in 0.70.2 will indicate a subsequent newer release; it remains neutral while 0.70.2 is current.

This remains an unsigned beta, retaining its original Private-channel filename and build metadata. Update discovery and the green badge do not require signing. Automatic executable replacement and restart require signed installed and replacement builds from the same verified publisher. No signature checks were weakened.

Verification limits

Regression checks cover actual WPF badge states, unavailable and unsigned release responses, repeated watcher reopening over a real recorded bundle, automatic retries and preservation of bundle bytes and recorded tracks. Clean-Windows, remote-computer performance, ordinary non-owner cloud-account, live simulator and signed installed-to-installed upgrade acceptance remain outstanding.

FlightWire Logbook 0.70.1 is a Windows x64 public beta patch for excessive startup import work and storage contention.

Changes

• Completed reports are parsed and imported one at a time, avoiding a burst of simultaneous work when several flights become available together.
• Background import, replay and screenshot writers start after startup migration and cleanup finish.
• Automatic duplicate imports no longer reload every report and recalculate the entire career. New flights still refresh the flight list.
• Screenshot migration avoids repeated reads of the full screenshot table.
• Beta update checks now use this public downloads repository.

Verification and limitations

The 15-file startup regression reduced simultaneous callbacks from 15 to 1. Its duplicate-import fixture confirmed lower managed allocations and eliminated 15 repeated career recalculations. These are regression measurements, not CPU or resident-memory measurements from the affected computer. Startup on that computer still needs confirmation after updating.

• New Logbook update window with release notes, progress, cancellation and Update and restart for eligible signed releases.
• Verified update downloads, local recovery copies, safe executable replacement and restart. Automatic installation requires signed Logbook releases from the same verified publisher.
• Background imports now defer and retry when flight storage is busy, rather than reporting temporary contention as rejected flight reports.
• Pending automatic imports drain before shutdown.

The new updater uses direct GitHub downloads and static release metadata. No new tracking endpoint or background polling was added. This release does not activate the signed public self-update feed.

The build passed 1,392 automated C# checks, all six map regression suites and verification of all eight aircraft models. Compilation completed with zero warnings or errors. All 44 ZIP files and the package checksum were verified.

Dropbox access remains subject to the application's beta/provider availability. Automated checks are not a guarantee that every system or flight scenario is covered.
