v0.2.0-lyra - Lyra locomotion with ALS characters
Lyra locomotion preview with ALS characters
This release adds the Lyra Main/Linked Layer locomotion runtime to Godot while retaining the ALS character model and skeleton. It includes Unarmed, Pistol and Rifle equipment, typed animation interfaces and layers, shared Core mechanisms, Montage/notify handling, final Rig output, and the visible terrain demo. The rifle forward-to-right leg direction fix is included.
Install
Use the v0.2.0-lyra tag and download all 11 resource ZIPs plus SHA256SUMS.txt. The automatically generated GitHub source archives do not contain these dependencies.
- ALS: one ZIP, approximately 21 MiB;
assets/generated/als_v4/andals_v4_raw/. - Lyra: ten independent ZIP parts;
assets/generated/lyra_als/. These include runtime resources and the current exported native reference datasets for reproducible tests. - Total: 1342 resources, approximately 2.1 GiB compressed and 12 GiB after extraction. Exact sizes and SHA-256 hashes are in
resource-bundle-summary.json.
Verify the download hashes, then extract every ZIP into the repository root. Each part is a normal ZIP; do not concatenate parts. Do not extract into assets/generated/ directly, because the ZIPs already contain that path. Run scripts/verify-release-resources.ps1 -ExpectedTag v0.2.0-lyra after extraction. Godot regenerates .import and .godot caches on first import.
Install Godot 4.7.2 .NET, .NET 8 SDK and PowerShell 7. Configure GODOT_EXECUTABLE in .env.local.ps1, build the C# project, and import with Godot --headless --editor --path <project> --import. Start the normal scene with -- --locomotion=lyra --lyra-profile=rifle; add --lyra-characters=10 for NPCs. UE is not required when using these resource bundles.
The README contains complete PowerShell commands, controls, resource paths, troubleshooting, and the verify-lyra-release.ps1 Smoke/Direction/Terrain test entry points.
Validation and scope
A fresh source extraction with no pre-existing Godot import cache was built and imported using these resources. Validation includes resource SHA-256 checks, three equipment profiles, ten characters with equipment switching, rifle W-to-D short/steady changes at 30/60/120 Hz, terrain tests, and ALS action-input regression. The attached RELEASE_VERIFICATION.json records the final results.
This is a development preview. Full interactive acceptance and deferred ROADMAP items remain open; it does not claim full UE/Jolt movement equivalence. Native reference data and runtime resources retain their original file bytes. The optional Win64 numeric bridge is included; Main RootYaw also has a managed fallback.
Asset terms
The project MIT license covers original code and documentation. ALS, Lyra, Epic/Fab content and their exported or converted resources retain their applicable source terms; these bundles do not grant new rights to third-party content. ASSET_LICENSE.md and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md are included in every resource ZIP.

Pre-Lyra ALS Baseline
Pre-Lyra ALS Baseline
Baseline snapshot of the Godot ALS (Advanced Locomotion System V4) port immediately before the Lyra animation work started.
- Tag target: commit
75a904916e8e94532a9cc5aff699a99329eeee79("Add reproducible ALS and distance matching phase demo", 2026-09-28), the last commit before the first Lyra commit (69e3019). - What worked at this point: full ALS v4 locomotion chain in Godot 4.7.2 mono (Standing/Grounded machines, shared source sync, notify/Pivot, Rest feet feedback, Mantle, overlay/props), with UE-side export and import verification (P2A/P2B).
Attached asset bundle
godot-als-assets-pre-lyra.zip (~20 MB, 269 files) contains the runtime asset dependencies of godot-ALS:
als_v4/— the P2A export from the UE Advanced Locomotion System V4 project (FBX meshes/animations, textures,als_manifest.json,audit/,compiled/als_animation_set.tres). Godot-generated.importmetadata files are excluded; Godot regenerates them on first open.als_v4_raw/— raw animation source JSON payloads (v4 aim/overlay/overlay-prop/ragdoll/recovery-movement/stop inputs + 116 raw sequences).
Usage: extract both folders into assets/generated/ of this repository checkout at the pre-lyra tag. After Godot (4.7.2 mono) re-imports the assets, als_v4/compiled/als_animation_set.tres is self-contained (no dangling uid references) and the demo scenes/demo/als_demo.tscn can run.
Export batch note
This bundle is the 2026-09-29 re-export batch from the GASP58 project (UE 5.8.1, exporter 2.0.0), manifest SHA-256 bad46e0b4aaddf5ecb08a4b92d6844ead32e132c832523fa789f76e90626d286 (267 assets / 141 files / 126 animations). The GASP58 source content was verified byte-identical to the Fab-distributed AdvancedLocomotionSystemV4-UE5.4 package (346/346 files, SHA-256), and the batch passed P2A determinism checks and P2B Godot import verification.
The reference/als-v4-export.lock.json committed at this tag pins the earlier 2026-09-28 export batch from AdvancedLocomotionSystemV (UE 5.9), manifest SHA-256 5d942e8566c9c8de0fbbf015e02c6235ac2deef51c8c54446a56302a1d35bfd0. Both batches come from the same ALS v4 source content with identical counts (267/141/126) and exporter version, but manifest hashes differ due to engine/version metadata. If lock verification against the committed lock reports a different hash, that is expected for this bundle; strictly reproducing the pinned batch requires the UE 5.9 export pipeline described in docs/verification/2026-09-28-export-onboarding.md.
