I have a chore ("Take dog Out") that I want to behave as follows:
I have all of the above working perfectly except for the last item (resets at midnight). I have tried all sorts of setup combinations. Here is the setup that gets me the closest:
This setup allows us to never have more than 3 hours throughout the day since the dog was last taken out. Even if someone shortens a timeframe and takes the dog out 1 hour since the last time, the due date/time resets to the next 3 hours which is perfect. But, after the last time the dog is taken out for the night (around 8:30PM), the next due date/time is 11:30PM after which the chore becomes overdue until someone eventually takes the dog out the next morning and completes the chore again. Is there any way (possibly with automations?) to reset a Custom Scheudled chore at midnight so that the first due date/time each morning is 7AM? I tried the "Reset Overdue Chores" service via automations but all that does is change the status to Pending and sets the next due date/time to +3 hours. I also tried the "Set/Reset Chore Due Date" but that requires me to enter a static calendar date. I'd need it to be a dynamic rolling date. |

Resolved myself with the help of Gemini. Just needed to change the Automation into YAML mode which allows me to use a dynamic date in the "Set/Reset Chore Due Date" service. |

Yes, a daily automation using set due date is the best way to handle this. Glad you got it working. |
