Exit codes

Code Meaning
0 pass
1 findings
2 usage or config error

A godot-devkit.toml mistake is always 2, so CI never reads a typo as drift. A key this package does not honour is named at exit 2, never ignored.

"census zero" FAIL

A gate that scanned no files FAILS. It does not pass. Read the census line first: a gate that scanned fewer files than you expected means your config is wrong (for example exclude_prefixes or roots), not that your tree is clean. See The eight gates and Configuration reference.

Two pins warning

If the Makefile has GODOT_DEVKIT_VERSION above the include and uv.lock also names godot-devkit, the legacy pin runs and make warns you. Delete the GODOT_DEVKIT_VERSION line. See Installing and pinning.

Refused re-tag

A published wheel is never replaced. If a tag is moved or a Release is deleted and rebuilt, the Release run refuses when the wheel differs from the one on the index (every consumer's uv.lock hashes it). Cut a new version instead. See Maintaining.

Deprecated 2.x names

devkit.toml, [checks] godot and make milestone still work in 3.x with one deprecation line on stderr. They are removed in 4.0. See Migrating from 2.x to 3.x.
