Life Assistant 2.0.6
Life Assistant 2.0.6
Changed
- Calendar pages slide. On the phone a swipe moves the month, week or day with the finger,
settles on the next one when let go and springs back after a short drag; before, the page
changed only after the swipe ended, without any movement. On both the phone and the PC the
arrows, Today and the keyboard slide the next page over from its side. The PC's calendar header
keeps one arrangement for every month, so a month with a longer name no longer pushes the view
switcher to another line. - License. 2.0.6 is open source under the GNU AGPL version 3 only, with the Google Play
services linking permission, like the versions before it. The 2.0.6 installers were built
while the project was briefly private: their source is thev2.0.6tag, a snapshot without the
license files, and their Settings → About says "All rights reserved" with no source link.
Neither limits the grant: LICENSE and ADDITIONAL_PERMISSIONS.md on the main branch apply to
2.0.6 as well, and the next version shows the license and the source link in the app again.
Fixed
- Only one copy of the PC app runs. A copy noticed another one only once that one's local
connection was open, seconds after it started; copies started in those seconds (at sign-in,
by several AI assistants at once, or with a double click) all kept running in the tray. The
last of them could not open the data, and it was the one AI assistants reached, so they found
Life Assistant locked. Now the first copy takes a lock the moment it starts; any later start
waits for it, brings its window forward when the start was yours, and ends. If the first copy
has ended (even by crashing), the next start takes over. - AI assistants no longer find a just-started PC app locked. When an assistant starts Life
Assistant in the tray, its request now waits the moment it takes the app to open the data with
the remembered password, instead of being told the app is locked. It is still told so when a
password is really needed or the app lock is on. - AI assistants in Claude Desktop reach the running PC app again. Claude Desktop, installed
from the Microsoft Store, lets the programs it starts see AppData only through a private copy.
Once a copy of Life Assistant had been started from there, the file telling assistants where
the app listens stayed old in that copy, so they were told Life Assistant was not running
while it was open in the tray. The app now also publishes that file in the temporary folder,
which every program sees alike; assistants skip a file whose app has ended; and a copy started
from inside such a private view starts again outside it, so it never works on an old copy of
the data. A failure to publish the file is now written tolife-assistant.login the app's
folder instead of passing unnoticed.
New
- AI assistants on the PC can rename a daily checklist item in place (
rename_checklist_item);
its place in the list and today's tick stay.
Compatibility
- Signed with the same key as 2.0.5: install it over 2.0.5 without uninstalling.
- The backup and sync format is the same as in 2.0.2.
Life Assistant 2.0.5
Life Assistant 2.0.5
Fixed
- Sync no longer brings back an old version and removes newer records. After each sync the
app removes old versions from the cloud, one at a time and newest first. When that stopped
halfway, for example because the phone app was closed, an old version could look like an
unmerged change from the other device. The next sync then merged it: records added since that
old version were removed, and recent edits (todos ticked off, new due dates) were undone.
Old versions are now removed oldest first and only together with everything before them, and
on GitHub all of them in a single commit, so no other device ever sees the history half
removed.
New
- Sync asks before a merge removes many records. When changes from both devices are merged
and the other device lacks more of this device's records than a limit, sync stops and asks
which version to keep instead of removing them. The limit is in Settings → Backup & sync on the
phone and Settings → Cloud sync on the PC: Always ask, 5 (the default), 10, 20,
50 records, or Off. Each device keeps its own choice. Emptying the trash on the other
device does not count.
Also new (from 2.0.4, which was not published separately)
New
- The PC app can start with Windows, in the tray. Turn on Start with Windows in
Settings → Notifications. Life Assistant then starts when you sign in without opening its
window: reminders, sync and AI assistants are ready, and the tray icon opens the window.
Turning it on also keeps the app in the tray when its window is closed. It is a per-user startup
entry, so it needs no administrator rights and shows in Task Manager → Startup apps.
On Linux the same switch is called Start when you sign in and adds an entry to
~/.config/autostart.
Changed
-
One click on the tray icon opens the window, brought to the front even when it was
minimized or behind other windows. Before, a single click did nothing and the window opened only
from the right-click menu or with a double click. -
The tray menu has Open, Settings and Quit. Settings holds Start with Windows and
Keep in the tray when closed as check marks, so both can be changed without opening the
window. They are the same settings as in Settings → Notifications; a change in one place shows
in the other. -
The PC app's folders are called Life Assistant. Earlier versions installed into
AppData\Local\Life Trackerand kept their data inAppData\Roaming\Life Tracker, after the
app's old name. 2.0.4 installs intoAppData\Local\Life Assistantand replaces the old copy;
on its first start it moves the data folder toAppData\Roaming\Life Assistantand renames the
data file tolife-assistant-local.tlb. Starting with Windows and AI assistants already
connected in Claude Desktop or Claude Code are pointed at the new place by themselves. If the
data folder cannot be moved (a file in it is in use), the old folder stays in use and nothing is
lost; the move is tried again on the next start. -
The PC window's title bar follows the app's theme. Windows drew it white whenever Windows
itself was in light mode, above a dark app. It is now dark with the dark theme, in the app's own
background colour on Windows 11, and light with the light theme. -
The calendar looks the same for today as for any other day, on the phone and the PC. The
Today button that leads back to today used to appear only for other days and pushed the title
and the view switcher aside; it now keeps its place and is only hidden while today is shown. The
PC's Day view is titled with the date for today too, as on the phone.
Compatibility
- Signed with the same key as 2.0.3: install it over 2.0.3 or 2.0.4 without uninstalling.
- The backup and sync format is the same as in 2.0.2. Devices still on 2.0.3 keep syncing, but
only devices on 2.0.5 have the fix, so update the phone and the PC.
Life Assistant 2.0.3

Changed
-
Ticked checklist items move out of the way, like todos. The daily checklist on Today shows
only what is left for the day. A ticked item moves into a folded Checked off group under
the list; open it to see what is done, and tap an item there to untick it and bring it back.
Once everything is ticked, a line says so until the next morning.
-
Today no longer has a field for adding todos. Add todos in Todo; the ones due today still
show on Today and are ticked off there.
Compatibility
-
Signed with the same key as 2.0.2: install it over 2.0.2 without uninstalling.
-
The backup and sync format is the same as in 2.0.2.
Life Assistant 2.0.2

New
-
A daily checklist on Today. For the things done every day, such as brushing your teeth,
showering or checking homework. They are not todos: they never appear in Todo, the calendar or
the widget. Ticks count for the day only, so every morning starts with nothing ticked. Once
everything is ticked the checklist folds into one line until tomorrow. Add, rename, reorder and
remove items in Edit. The checklist is part of backups and GitHub sync, so every device
shows the same items and today's ticks.
-
On the PC, AI assistants connected through MCP can read the checklist, tick items and add or
remove them (removing asks first, like other deletions).
Changed
-
Today is in the menu again by default and a new device opens on it. It also comes back on
devices that updated from 2.0.1, where it was off unless switched on. You can still hide it in
Settings → Appearance → modules in the menu.
After updating
-
Install 2.0.2 on every device before the next sync. The backup and sync format has a new
version for the checklist; older versions refuse to read it rather than lose the checklist, so a
device still on 2.0.1 stops syncing until it is updated.
Compatibility
-
Signed with the same key as 2.0.1: install it over 2.0.1 without uninstalling.
-
Existing data is kept; the database gains two tables for the checklist.

Fixed
-
GitHub sync that stopped working some hours after connecting. GitHub sign-ins of Life
Assistant are valid for eight hours and come with a second key to renew them (GitHub's default
for apps registered since August 2026). The apps threw that second key away and never renewed,
so every device was disconnected at most eight hours after it connected. Now each device keeps
the renewal key, renews its sign-in by itself shortly before it expires, and tries once more
when GitHub turns a sign-in down. Token expiration is also turned off for the app on GitHub, so
new sign-ins do not expire at all.
-
Reconnecting or disconnecting one device no longer risks signing the others out. 2.0.0 asked
GitHub to revoke the sign-in a device had used before. Shortly after one such request GitHub
removed the app's whole authorization, with the sign-ins of every device. The apps no longer
revoke anything; a replaced sign-in is simply forgotten on the device.
New
-
The home-screen widget was rebuilt. It wears the app's own colours and accent and follows
the app's light or dark setting. It lists what is overdue (in red) and due today, with the
round check marks in their priority colours, the due time, and a bar for the day's progress.
The list scrolls, ticking a todo off shows at once, tapping a title opens that todo, and two
round buttons add a todo or an expense with the keyboard already open. The single-cell and the
one-row sizes show the count and the next todo.
Changed
-
Today is no longer in the menu by default. Switch it on in Settings → Appearance → modules
in the menu if you want it. A device that has not chosen Today shows the usual Todo, Ledger,
Calendar and Notes, and a new device opens on Todo.
After updating
-
Install 2.0.1 on every device, then choose Reconnect once on each
(Settings → Sync & backup). The sign-in saved by an older version has no renewal key, so this one
reconnect is needed; after it the devices stay connected. Your data and the sync password stay
the same.
Compatibility
-
Signed with the same key as 2.0.0: install it over 2.0.0 without uninstalling.
-
The backup and sync format is unchanged.

New
-
A new look on the phone and the computer. Every screen was rebuilt on one design: calm
surfaces, round check marks in the priority colour, rows instead of cards, one accent colour,
and the same wording on both devices.
-
Today: a new first page. What is overdue and due today to tick off, the coming week, what
you spent today and this month, today's diary page and your pinned notes. A new device starts
here.
-
Phone
-
Todo: quick views (All, Today, Next 7 days, Overdue, No date), search, a filter sheet
with sort by deadline, priority, created, title or your own order, the list grouped by due
date, subtasks that unfold in the list, swipe to delete with Undo. Dates can be typed as
"tomorrow", "fri", "周五" or in your own date format, or picked from a calendar.
-
Ledger: week, month, year or all-time view with income, expense and net at the top,
search, entries grouped by day with the day's total, swipe to delete with Undo, spending by
tag in Statistics, and asking before a schedule is stopped.
-
Calendar: month, week, day and agenda views; tick todos off and add a todo for the
selected day; swipe to change month.
-
Notes and Diary save by themselves while you write and when you leave; Back never loses
text. Notes have a Pinned view and a folder menu.
-
Vault: tap an entry to read it, with Copy for account, password and website.
-
Settings grouped as on the computer.
-
Tablets and foldables: list and details side by side on wide screens. A book-style
foldable held half open shows the navigation with names and the day at a glance on one half
and the page on the other; a flip phone standing on a table shows the day at a glance on the
upper half. Nothing is drawn across a hinge.
-
-
Computer
-
No password at start. The app opens straight away and works offline on its own. You
choose a data password only when you first use the Vault, the app lock, sealed confessions or
cloud sync.
-
Every page rebuilt: Today, Todo, Ledger (Entries, Statistics, Recurring), Calendar (month,
week, day, agenda), Notes, Diary, Confessional, Vault and Settings, and all of them fit small
windows.
-
AI assistants can use your data. Switch on Settings → AI assistants and add Life
Assistant to Claude Desktop or Claude Code with one click. An assistant can then read and,
if you allow changes, add and edit todos, ledger entries, notes, diary pages and categories
while the app runs. The Vault and the Confessional are never exposed. Off by default.
-
-
Daily backups. Each day both apps keep a copy of the day before, and delete it on the third
day. Restore one in Settings → Sync & backup; the Vault is not touched, and the restore can
be undone.
Fixed
-
GitHub sync that stopped after a day. A sign-in that GitHub had retired made sync fail
silently. The app now says "GitHub sign-in expired" with a Reconnect button, retires the
sign-ins it replaces so that GitHub does not drop the one in use, and the phone no longer
forgets its sign-in when the secure storage is briefly unavailable.
-
A failed sync shows its reason.
-
Counts of repeating todos no longer include every future occurrence.
-
Typed dates follow the date format chosen in Settings.
Compatibility
-
Signed with the same key as 1.9.0: install it over 1.9.0 without uninstalling. The Windows
installer updates an installed 1.9.0 in place.
-
Reconnect GitHub once on each device after updating (Settings → Sync & backup → Reconnect).
Your data and the sync password stay the same.
-
The backup and sync format is unchanged; 1.9.0 and 2.0.0 devices sync with each other.
-
A computer that already has data opens it with the password it remembers. If it did not
remember one, it asks once more; with the app lock switched on it keeps asking, as before.
-
Google Drive sync is still shown as coming soon.

New
-
One-click GitHub sync. Choose Connect GitHub, paste the code that is already copied,
approve, and you are done: Life Assistant creates a private
life-assistant-datarepository inyour account and starts syncing. No Client ID, repository or GitHub App to set up.
-
Phone and computer merge automatically. When both changed since the last sync, changes are
merged record by record instead of asking which side to keep. A change on one device is kept, a
deletion applies unless the other device edited that item, and when both edited the same field
the newer edit wins. Notes, diary pages and descriptions edited on both devices keep both
versions, separated by a marker. Items that both devices numbered alike are renumbered.
Simultaneous uploads are merged too. Only a cloud version with a different password still asks.
-
Linux version (
.deband a portable.tar.gz), built automatically on GitHub. -
Redesigned desktop app for large screens:
-
A labelled sidebar with counts, sync status, Vault and Settings. Fold it to icons with the
menu button or Ctrl+B; the choice is remembered.
-
Todo: filter column (Today, Next 7 days, Overdue, No date, category tree, priority, tags,
sort), list grouped by date, and an editor beside it with subtasks, due time, reminders,
repeat, Urgent priority, attachments and Undo for deletes. Rename or delete categories and tags.
-
Ledger: week, month, year or all-time views with income, expense, net, average daily
spending and largest expense; a quick-add row; the period's chart and spending by tag;
entry time, repeating entries and a Recurring tab to change, stop or remove schedules.
-
Calendar: the month shows each day's todos and net amount, the selected day's todos,
entries and diary page sit beside it with quick add; week and agenda views.
-
Notes: folders, list and editor side by side, with autosave.
-
Vault: opens after the data password, list and details side by side, copy buttons that
clear the clipboard after 30 seconds.
-
Reminders on the PC as system notifications, a tray icon, and optionally keeping the app
running in the tray when the window closes.
-
Reminder settings (also used by the phone), readable option names, a centered Settings page,
reviewing a backup before it replaces local data, and exporting with a separate password.
-
-
Keyboard on the desktop: Ctrl+N new item, Ctrl+F search, Ctrl+1–9 modules, Ctrl+R sync,
Ctrl+, settings, Ctrl+B fold the menu, Ctrl+S save, Esc close, arrow keys in lists and the
calendar, Enter to add.
-
The desktop window remembers its size and position.
-
Smaller downloads, same features: the Windows installer is about 46 MB (was 50 MB) and
takes 89 MB installed (was 108 MB); the Android APK is 3.5 MB (was 3.9 MB) because it only
carries the English and Chinese system texts the app uses.
Fixed
-
Deleting one occurrence of a repeating todo or ledger entry on the PC no longer lets the phone
re-create it later.
-
The PC now creates due repeating todos and ledger entries itself instead of waiting for the phone.
-
New todos with a date made on the PC get the default reminders, so the phone reminds you.
Compatibility
-
Signed with the same key as 1.8.0: install it over 1.8.0 without uninstalling.
-
The backup and sync format is unchanged. A 1.8.0 device still syncs with 1.9.0 but asks instead
of merging when both changed, so update every device.
-
Existing GitHub App connections keep working. Connecting again uses the new one-click sign-in,
which syncs through the new
life-assistant-datarepository; the first sync there merges thedata of both devices.
-
Google Drive sync is shown as coming soon until its Google Cloud project is published.
