  • Initial release: define_counter_cache defines a counter on a model (stored in a column of that name, or in a polymorphic counters table as countable/key/value when no column exists) and an update_<column> method that recalculates it from a block; update_counter_cache adds after_save and after_destroy callbacks that recalculate the counter on the associated record (and on the old one when the foreign key changes), with an optional :if.
