Media Bridge 0.3.0 portable beta 1
Media Bridge 0.3.0 replaces the generated Windows Helper executable and NSIS
installer with an auditable portable package. The ZIP includes the official
CPython embeddable runtime, readable Media Bridge Python source, locked Python
packages, FFmpeg, Deno, licenses, hashes, and text installation scripts.
New
- Inspect a normal webpage and list video items found by supported
yt-dlp
extractors,<video>/<source>elements, direct media links, and loaded
MP4, WebM, HLS, or DASH resources. - Select one discovered video before starting the existing local download flow.
- Install and remove the Native Messaging host with readable per-user
.cmd
scripts and no custom installer executable or administrator prompt. - Verify the exact official Python embeddable archive by SHA-256 during builds.
Limits
- Media Bridge does not bypass DRM, paywalls, authentication, or access
controls. Some players expose only protected or unsupported resources. - Browser cookies and page contents are not sent to the Helper. Detection uses
URLs and basic media metadata visible to the active tab. - The current public extension remains Firefox desktop first.
FFmpeg corresponding source
The portable uses the same pinned FFmpeg build as 0.2.2. Its complete
corresponding-source archive
remains available with SHA-256
