Media Bridge 0.3.3 portable beta 1
Media Bridge 0.3.3 makes ordinary webpage discovery easier to understand and
keeps the YouTube and HTTP 403 fixes verified in 0.3.2.
New
- Show a preview beside every discovered video selection card.
- Use the website-provided video poster or extractor thumbnail when available.
- When a visible top-level
<video>has no poster, capture the visible tab once
and crop the player locally for a temporary preview. - Keep the selected title, source, resolution, and duration next to the preview
so users can distinguish the intended program from banners and short clips.
Fixed
- Use
yt-dlp2026.8.19 for current YouTube HTTP 403 fixes. - Let
yt-dlpmanage request headers for extractor-managed pages such as
YouTube. - Send validated
RefererandOriginheaders only for direct browser-
discovered streams that need ordinary anti-hotlink page context.
Privacy and limits
- Locally captured preview images remain in the extension popup, are never sent
to the Helper or Soft Harbor Studio, and disappear when the popup closes. - Website poster and extractor thumbnail URLs can be requested from the same
requested website to display the selection preview. - Media Bridge still does not read browser cookies, passwords, page HTML,
payment information, or general browsing history. - Media Bridge does not bypass DRM, authentication, paywalls, or access controls.
- The public extension remains Firefox desktop first.
Distribution
The release remains an auditable portable package with readable Media Bridge Python source,
the checksum-pinned official CPython embeddable runtime, locked packages,
FFmpeg, Deno, licenses, hashes, and text installation scripts.
Only download media you own or are permitted to save and when the website
permits downloading it.
