SwitchWaker 0.3.0
SwitchWaker runs The Wind Waker (GameCube, GZLE01 revision 0) natively on a Switch with custom firmware: the decompiled game, on Aurora. No emulation. You need your own disc of the game.
New
- 60 fps (experimental): Options > Rendimiento > "60 fps". The game still runs at 30 game frames per second; the picture in between is interpolated (camera, characters, particles, shadows, the sea). Off by default, and it can be switched on and off while playing. Handheld it holds 60 in most places; where it can't, it drops to 30 for a few seconds and then tries 60 again.
- Sharper picture when docked: 1920x1080 output with a 1920x1080 internal resolution by default.
- Camera shake option: Gráficos > "Temblor de cámara". Off by default: quakes, hits, explosions and cutscenes no longer shake the camera (the controller still rumbles). Switch it on for the GameCube's behaviour.
- Heat haze option: Gráficos > "Distorsión por calor". Off by default: the picture no longer wobbles over lava and fire (Dragon Roost and its cavern). Switch it on for the GameCube's look; at 60 fps it distorts too much.
- The version is shown in the options menu.
Fixed
- Multicoloured garbage over the whole screen for a moment when the GPU fell behind (seen in the Forbidden Woods after a cutscene and in some fights): the renderer reused memory the GPU was still reading. We could not reproduce it again after the fix, but it was rare to begin with; please report it if you still see it.
- Crash when opening a door with the boomerang out.
- Includes the bow fix from 0.2.1.
Known issue: 60 fps when docked
At 1080p the Switch's GPU cannot keep 60 fps in most places: dynamic resolution lowers the 3D image down to 1.5x, and where that is not enough the game drops to 30 fps for a few seconds before trying 60 again, which feels like stutter. Handheld runs at 60 in most places. When docked, we recommend leaving 60 fps off for now.
Install / update
- New install: download
SwitchWaker-v0.3.0-switch.zipbelow, copy itsswitchfolder to the root of the SD card, and put your disc image (uncompressed.isoof the USA disc, revision 0) atsdmc:/switch/switchwaker/GZLE01.iso. Details: INSTALL.md. - Updating from 0.2.x: copy the zip's
switchfolder over the old one (switchwaker.nro,initial_pipeline_cache.dbandinitial_dksh_cache.bin). Your disc, saves, settings and the HOME-screen forwarder stay as they are. - Optional, to free space: the old OpenGL renderer is gone. If they are still on your card, delete the folder
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker_gl/and, insdmc:/switch/switchwaker/native/user/cache/, the filesdawn_cache.db(anddawn_cache.db-journal),mesa_shader_cache.bin,mesa_shader_cache.idxandmesa_shader_cache.use. Keep the rest of that folder.
