SwitchWaker runs The Wind Waker (GameCube) natively on a Switch with custom firmware: the decompiled game, on Aurora. No emulation. You need your own disc of the game.
A small update to 0.4.0.
Fixed
- Telescope scene with "Instant text" (#10): with the quality-of-life option "Instant text" on (also part of the "Experiencia BetterWW" preset), Aryll's "Are you looking at the red postbox?" never went away while you looked through the Telescope, so the Helmaroc King scene at the start of the game could not begin. The Telescope's messages now close by themselves again, and every other message stays instant. Thanks to tomasbellr-creator for the report and the video.
- Desktop build: crash at the title screen with clang 23 (#11): builds made with a recent clang (seen with 23.1 on Linux) crashed every time at the title screen. Thanks to cherryduck.
New
- Desktop: fullscreen (#11):
COS_FULLSCREEN=1starts fullscreen, and F11 or Alt+Enter switches between fullscreen and the window. Thanks to cherryduck.
Install / update
Pick the download for your disc:
| Your disc | Download | Disc image |
|---|---|---|
USA (GZLE01, revision 0) |
SwitchWaker-v0.4.1-switch.zip |
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/GZLE01.iso |
Europe (GZLP01, revision 0) |
SwitchWaker-v0.4.1-switch-eur.zip |
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/GZLP01.iso |
- Updating from 0.4.0: copy the zip's
switchfolder over the old one. Your disc, saves, settings and the HOME-screen icon stay as they are. - New install: copy the zip's
switchfolder to the root of the SD card and put your disc image (uncompressed.iso) at the path above. Details: INSTALL.md. - One region per SD card: both downloads install
sdmc:/switch/switchwaker/switchwaker.nro.
Known issues
As in 0.4.0:
- "Instant text" does not speed up the text of some cutscenes (for example the arrival on Outset Island).
- The disc's videos (the title screen's attract video and the ending video) do not play yet.
- Docked at 60 fps the frame rate can still drop to 30 in heavy scenes.
- Depth of field has no visible effect on the Switch (#9).
