MouseDragFix 1.4

@channelramble channelramble released this 11 Oct 10:19

Clicks in full-screen games no longer wait on MouseDragFix.

Fixed

  • Input could lag in full-screen games. While a game runs full screen, macOS Game Mode runs every other app at background priority, MouseDragFix included, and MouseDragFix sat in the path of every click and every turn of the wheel. Left and right clicks now never wait for it, and the scroll wheel only goes through it while Smooth scrolling for mouse wheels is on or you hold a button with a click-and-scroll effect. Everything you've set up works as before.
  • MouseDragFix no longer leaves a disabled event tap behind each time it restarts its taps, for example whenever Mac Mouse Fix relaunches.

Note

Buttons you've set up, and the wheel while smooth scrolling is on, still go through MouseDragFix, so Game Mode can still hold them up. If you play with smooth scrolling on, turn it off in the Scrolling tab to keep the wheel out of the way.

Upgrading

Your settings carry over. If macOS asks for Accessibility access again, or MouseDragFix is switched on in the list but isn't working, select it in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility, remove it with −, then open MouseDragFix and allow it once more.

Install: unzip, move to Applications, then right-click → Open the first time (signed with the hardened runtime but not notarized). Grant Accessibility when prompted.

Requires macOS 14 or later; built and tested on macOS 27.

Easier to understand. Nothing about how your mouse works has changed in this release; every setting now explains itself.

New

  • Guide tab, shown on first launch and from the menu bar: getting started, a plain-language summary of what each of your buttons, the scroll wheel and the pointer do right now, which button is which, tips, and fixes for common problems.
  • Every setting explains itself underneath, and the text follows whatever you choose. Hovering a control shows a short tip.
  • Helpful warnings when something will get in the way: Mac Mouse Fix running at the same time, only one Desktop to swipe between, a button whose plain click does nothing, or a keyboard-shortcut action with no shortcut recorded yet.
  • Step-by-step Accessibility setup, including what to do if MouseDragFix is already switched on but still not working.
  • Clearer menu bar: says whether MouseDragFix is active or paused, and adds How to Use MouseDragFix… and, when needed, Allow Accessibility Access….
  • Button action menus are grouped, and Pass through is now called Normal click (no change).
  • Reset all settings now asks before resetting.

Fixed

  • The "×" after the pointer speed value sat above the number instead of beside it.

Wheel zoom now works, and works smoothly.

Fixed

  • ⌘ + wheel zoom did nothing in browsers. The magnification being sent was around 50x too small. It is now pixels/800 per notch, the same scale Mac Mouse Fix uses. Chromium browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge, Vivaldi, Opera, Arc) also swallow a fixed amount of pinch at the start of each gesture before they react at all — measured in Brave, 0.3 of magnification spread across a gesture produces no zoom whatsoever — so the window under the pointer is checked and that dead zone is paid off in one swallowed event, exactly as Mac Mouse Fix does.
  • Zoom was jagged. It emitted half the remaining magnification in its first frame and decayed from there, ran at 60 Hz, and started a fresh gesture on every notch so the page lurched. Zoom is now animated over 250 ms per notch at 120 Hz on its own high-priority timer, and the gesture stays open through a quarter second of idle so a scroll burst is one continuous pinch. An eight-notch burst went from eight gestures of six lurching steps each to a single gesture of 74 evenly graded events.

Note

Real pinch gestures do still work on macOS 27. If you are testing gesture events yourself, be aware that NSEvent.addGlobalMonitorForEvents never delivers them, which makes a global monitor look like a total failure; use a real frontmost window instead.

Install: unzip, move to /Applications, then right-click → Open the first time (signed with the hardened runtime but not notarized). Grant Accessibility when prompted.

Requires macOS 14 or later; built and tested on macOS 27.0.

Scrolling and drag-gesture feel now follow the Mac Mouse Fix implementation closely.

Fixed

  • Drag-to-scroll no longer "kicks" on release. The smoothing ramp was flushed in a single frame and momentum was launched from the raw pointer speed. It now drains at the speed the content was already moving at, over what is left of Mac Mouse Fix's 50 ms linear window, and coasts from that speed. Momentum distance matches the closed form of its drag curve.
  • Line deltas are sub-pixelated. CoreGraphics was rounding every frame up to a whole line, so apps that scroll by line delta travelled several times too far over a momentum tail. All scroll output now uses Mac Mouse Fix's field layout.
  • No more rubber-band at page edges on Regular smoothness, which sends phase-less continuous events.
  • One notch per wheel event instead of multiplying by the delta macOS inflates on fast spins.
  • Mission Control drags no longer stutter — gesture events are coalesced to one per display frame, and the drag animator runs on its own high-priority timer so a 1000 Hz mouse cannot starve it.
  • Settings window is resizable and no longer clips after a display change.
  • Fixed a crash when enabling custom pointer settings, and several state-machine bugs around disabling the app mid-press, lost button-up events, and double-click counting.

Changed

  • Scrolling defaults now match Mac Mouse Fix out of the box: High smoothness at Medium speed. Existing button, drag and pointer settings are preserved.
  • Pointer speed and acceleration have editable number fields next to the sliders.

Install: unzip, move to /Applications, then right-click → Open the first time (signed with the hardened runtime but not notarized). Grant Accessibility when prompted.

Requires macOS 14 or later; built and tested on macOS 27.0.

Mac Mouse Fix-style mouse gestures, scrolling and pointer settings for macOS 27.

  • Drag-proportional Spaces & Mission Control click-and-drag (real three-finger swipe via IOHIDEvent dock swipes, which macOS 27 still accepts)
  • Per-button Click / Double Click / Hold actions, Click-and-Drag and Click-and-Scroll effects, recorded keyboard shortcuts
