I originally started this repo hoping to figure out how to hack the firmware to give me and others more control over these printers but I haven't made much progress on that.

I have figured out how to use the replicator mini+ that I have with the original makerbot print(4.3) software and even doing the slicing with a modern slicer currently orcaslicer and then sending the gcode through a converter called mbotmake I found here on github.

At this point that works well enough and I want to document what I did in hopes of helping anyone else who is trying to use one of these old printers.

Note:

do not buy one of these printers, they are old and their limitations aren't worth it. When you can get a creality ender 3 for 100$ and even better printers for a bit more these are not worth the money. If you were gifted one by someone getting rid of it or a teacher at a school told this what you have there is no budget for something new, then this guide is for you.
