@charlesvestal charlesvestal released this 15 Oct 16:41

MONK-1 0.9.1: screen reader support.

  • Screen reader: MONK-1 now tells the FM-1 Screen Reader what its screen shows, over the same USB cable: the singer you pick, the page and its knobs, a knob's value as you turn it, the vowel from ALGORITHM, and what each button did (hold, octave, saved, voice reset). "Read the whole screen" tells you everything at once. Open the page in Chrome with the FM-1 plugged in; it speaks with its own voice, or hands the words to your computer's screen reader. Singing and the faces stay quiet.
  • Emulator: the velocity and aftertouch readout keeps its place, and nothing beside it moves.

@charlesvestal charlesvestal released this 14 Oct 15:25

The first release of MONK-1: twelve singers for the M-VAVE FM-1.

  • The voice: MonkSynth by Jonathan Taylor, a formant vocal synthesizer, ported to the FM-1: vowel, head size, breath, glide, a choir of up to ten, vibrato, echo and an envelope.
  • Twelve singers from MonkSynth's iOS port, each on its own stage with its own voice, each remembering your changes. The mouth follows the vowel as it sings.
  • Velocity and aftertouch from the FM-1's own keys, no hardware changes (Velo's sensing): velocity sets the level, aftertouch moves the vowel, bends the pitch, or both, counted from where the key rests.
  • Pages a button each: HOME Sing, EDIT Choir, LFO Vibrato, FX Echo, ENV Envelope, GLO Touch. PRESETS picks the singer, ALGORITHM the vowel, PLAY holds the note.
  • MIDI: notes with velocity and polyphonic aftertouch out over USB; notes, aftertouch and CCs (vowel, glide, level, echo, head) in.
