Orchard v0.3.0
What's new
Undo and redo searches. Press Cmd+Z, or Ctrl+Z on Windows, to go back to your previous search, and Cmd+Shift+Z, or Ctrl+Shift+Z, to go forward again. This works for typed searches and image searches, and clearing a search counts as a step. While you're typing in the search bar, the keys undo your typing first.
Fixes
- A scan interrupted by a network drop now carries on. If a network drive or share drops partway through a scan, Orchard stops and says so, then carries on where it left off once the folder is back. Info counts any files it couldn't reach. Before, every file it couldn't reach was marked as unreadable and never read again. If this happened to you in 0.2.0, open Info and choose Rescan now to read those files again. (#4)
- Rescan now tries again the files that couldn't be read. Use it after fixing a file's permissions, or after downloading originals from iCloud in Photos.
- The grid no longer jumps while you type. Typing in the search bar while scrolled down moved the grid up a little with each key.
- Searches made on the map now show in the grid. After searching on the map, switching to the grid showed your newest images instead of the matches, and the map could light the wrong images.
Installing
Mac (Apple Silicon): open Orchard-mac-arm64.dmg and drag Orchard to Applications. Orchard isn't signed by Apple yet, so the first time, macOS says it can't verify it. Click Done, open System Settings › Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the message about Orchard, then Open Anyway again, and enter your password. Or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Orchard.app in Terminal first. Updating from 0.2.0, macOS treats the new version as a new app, so it asks again, and asks again for any folders on your Desktop or in Documents.
Windows (x64): extract Orchard-windows-x64.zip, then open Orchard.exe in the Orchard folder. Windows may say it protected your PC. Click More info, then Run anyway.

Orchard v0.2.0
What's new
Your Apple Photos library, without exporting it. On a Mac, choose Photos library on the start page, or under the folder name, to browse and search your Photos library like any folder. macOS asks once whether Orchard may access your photos. Orchard reads your photos with your edits, and never changes the library. Show in Photos in the viewer opens a photo in Photos.
Photos stored only in iCloud can't be read yet. To include them, choose Download Originals to this Mac in Photos › Settings › iCloud.
