2010 Rust Rewrite Mashup v0.3.1

Fixes for v0.3.0.

Fixes

• The game no longer quits at startup on some copies of MW2 (Menu pc_options_video has no item 28 in the log). If your game's menus differ from what the new options pages expect, those pages now fall back to MW2's own instead of stopping the game.
• The Minecraft map no longer freezes for a couple of seconds shortly after you spawn. The loading screen now waits until the world is ready.

Known issues

• Frame rate is lower than v0.2.0 in matches with bots, with a small stutter every game tick. The game's own MW2 scripts now run the match, and that costs more per tick. This comes from IW4L upstream.
• If you die in skater mode, bodies pile up.
• The skateboard is invisible on some maps.
• Block edges in the Minecraft world aren't grind rails yet.

Setup is the same as before: extract the zip into its own folder (not Program Files) and run iw4l.exe. Updating from v0.3.0? Extract over your old folder to keep your setup and settings.

2010 Rust Rewrite Mashup v0.3.0

MW2, Skate 3 and Minecraft in one Rust game.

New: controller support

• Plug in a controller and play, including in the menus (D-pad or left stick, A select, B back).
• MW2's console button layouts: Default, Tactical, Lefty, Bumper Jumper and Bumper Jumper Tactical, plus stick layouts.
• Options → Controller: look and aim-down-sight sensitivity, invert look, response curve, aim assist, vibration and stick deadzones.
• Options → Controls: every action shows its key and its controller button, and both can be rebound.
• Aiming works like MW2 on console: turn rates that speed up as you hold the stick, and slower aim through a scope.
• Aim assist works like MW2 on console too. Standard slows your aim over an enemy and follows them as they move; Full also pulls your aim onto an enemy when you aim down the sight. It only applies while you aim with the controller.
• Click both sticks in to switch to and from Skate 3 mode.
• On the Minecraft map: RT mines, LT places, D-pad left and right step the hotbar, and Y swaps the first two hotbar slots.

From IW4L upstream

• New menus, and matches run by MW2's own game scripts, killstreaks included.
• Roughly double the frame rate in matches without bots.
• Hold-to-aim as well as toggle aim, and a field-of-view slider in the video options.
• A fix for sprint cutting out at high frame rates.

Setup

1. Extract the zip into its own folder (not Program Files).
2. Double-click iw4l.exe and confirm your Modern Warfare 2 folder (PC, with multiplayer; Steam works).
3. It asks whether you have Skate 3 (Xbox 360). Choose Yes and select the extracted default.xex (with its data folder beside it; ISO files do not work), or No to play without skating.
4. The game opens at the menu.

Updating from v0.2.0? Extract over your old folder and it keeps your setup and settings.

Playing the Minecraft world: in Create Game, pick the Minecraft tab in the map list. The map is called overworld. Or double-click Minecraft World.bat.

You don't need Minecraft installed. The first time the game starts, it downloads Minecraft 26.3's files (about 125 MB) from Mojang's official servers, like the Minecraft launcher does, and plays offline after that. No game files are included in this zip.

2010 Rust Rewrite Mashup v0.2.0

MW2, Skate 3 and Minecraft in one Rust game.

New: a Minecraft world map. A real, endless Minecraft 26.3 world with MW2 guns:

• Minecraft's day/night cycle, sky, clouds and lighting.
• Vanilla mobs you can shoot, and that fight back.
• Shoot blocks to break them, scaled by each gun's real damage. Grenades blow up like TNT.
• Block drops you can pick up.
• An MW2-styled Minecraft inventory and hotbar, with your guns as items.
• Placing blocks, and mining or punching with your bare hands.
• Minecraft's block, mob and footstep sounds.
• Unlimited ammo and grenades, the Intervention, SPAS-12 and UMP45, and no time limit.
• A minimap of the world.
• Skate 3 mode works here too, with full block collision.
