Release list
SkyCraft 0.1.2
Fixes the lag from explosions, and adds a switch to turn Skyrim destruction off. Early and experimental, so back up your saves.
Fixed: explosions lagging the game
TNT, creepers and other explosions used to stall Minecraft's server for 2 to 6 seconds each: mobs, items and block breaking froze, then caught up. Working out what Skyrim was made of around each blast was doing far more work than it needed to. It's now fast, with the same craters as before.
New: turn destruction off
Skyrim destruction: On/Off is in the top left of the pause menu (press O).
- Off: mining Skyrim's ground and rocks, and explosions, leave Skyrim alone. Holes you've already dug stay.
- In a friend's world, the host's setting counts (the button is greyed out for guests).
- It's saved in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\SkyCraft\Prism\instances\SkyCraft\.minecraft\config\skycraft.properties.
Also
SkyCraft.log now has a perf: line every minute with Skyrim's frame times and how long SkyCraft's parts take. If the game lags for you, please send that log.
Download
SkyCraft-0.1.2.zip: the mod. Install it with Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex over the old version. It updates the Minecraft side by itself and keeps your Minecraft world.skycraft-fabric-0.1.2.jar: the Minecraft mod on its own, only if you use your own launcher (see the README).SkyCraft-0.1.2-pdb.zip: debug symbols for crash logs. Most people don't need it.
You need
- Skyrim Special Edition on the Anniversary Edition runtime (tested on 1.7.104), SKSE64 and the Address Library (All in one, AE).
- A Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition.
Heavily recommended: Alternate Start - Live Another Life. Skyrim's opening (the cart ride and Helgen) may not work with SkyCraft, so you can get stuck. Alternate Start skips it.
See the README for controls, settings and known limitations.
SkyCraft 0.1.1
Digging into Skyrim, and a fix for Minecraft never connecting. Early and experimental, so back up your saves.
New: dig into Skyrim
- Mine Skyrim's ground, rocks, roads and objects like Minecraft blocks. The hole is cut out of Skyrim itself: you, NPCs and items fall in.
- Underneath is what you'd expect: dirt under grass, then stone with ores, then bedrock a few blocks down. Interiors and caves are solid stone behind their walls.
- Grass, flowers, bushes and small rocks on ground you dig away go with it.
- TNT, creepers and other explosions blow craters into Skyrim.
- What you dig is saved in your Minecraft world (and shared with friends in it).
Fixed: stuck on "SkyCraft: starting Minecraft..."
- If you ran Skyrim (or MO2 or Vortex) as administrator, Minecraft couldn't connect to it and sat hidden forever. Fixed.
- If Minecraft still hasn't connected after a minute, Skyrim now tells you why: Prism Launcher still busy (Alt-Tab to it), Minecraft closed (with the path to its log), or Minecraft running but not responding.
- A hidden Minecraft that never connects now closes itself after 10 minutes, instead of blocking the next start with "already running". If you're stuck now, restart your PC (or end
javaw.exein Task Manager) once after updating.
If it still doesn't connect, please report it with Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\SKSE\SkyCraft.log and %LOCALAPPDATA%\SkyCraft\Prism\instances\SkyCraft\.minecraft\logs\latest.log.

SkyCraft 0.1.0
First release. Play Skyrim as a Minecraft player: Minecraft's movement, inventory, HUD, blocks and combat inside Skyrim's world. Early and experimental, so back up your saves.
Download
SkyCraft-0.1.0.zip: the mod. Install it with Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex like any SKSE plugin. It includes everything for the Minecraft side.skycraft-fabric-0.1.0.jar: the Minecraft mod on its own, only if you use your own launcher (see the README).SkyCraft-0.1.0-pdb.zip: debug symbols for crash logs. Most people don't need it.
You need
- Skyrim Special Edition on the Anniversary Edition runtime (tested on 1.7.104), SKSE64 and the Address Library (All in one, AE).
- A Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition. Nothing else. SkyCraft brings a portable Prism Launcher with Minecraft 26.3, Fabric, Fabric API and e4mc set up.
Heavily recommended: Alternate Start - Live Another Life. Skyrim's opening (the cart ride and Helgen) is heavily scripted and may not work with SkyCraft, so you can get stuck. Alternate Start skips it and lets you choose where your new character begins. Otherwise, play from a save made after Helgen.
First start
Start Skyrim through SKSE. A small Prism Launcher window asks you to sign in with your Microsoft account once. Alt-Tab to it, sign in, and go back to Skyrim. Minecraft downloads (first time only), then runs hidden with Skyrim from then on.
Playing with friends
The host presses O, Open to LAN, Start LAN World, and shares the e4mc link from chat. Friends type /join <link> in chat (T), or click Join on the host's Discord status. /leave goes back to your own world. Up to 100 players. Everyone needs their own Skyrim with SkyCraft; only the Minecraft world is shared.
See the README for controls, settings and known limitations.
