Liyora 1.1.1: works on more phones and keys

Liyora is an Android keyboard that translates what you type into English, using your own free Gemini key. No server, no ads, no accounts.

This update fixes "Something went wrong" errors that some people saw on their phones.

What's new

  • Works with new Gemini keys. Liyora 1.1.0 used only gemini-2.5-flash, which Google no longer offers to new projects. Liyora now uses current free models (gemini-3.8-flash, then gemini-3.6-flash, then gemini-3.5-flash-lite). If one model is not available for your key, Liyora tries the next and remembers the one that works.
  • Pasted keys are cleaned. Spaces, line breaks, quotes and invisible characters copied with a key are removed, and the key format is checked before it is saved. Keys saved with these characters in 1.1.0 are cleaned automatically.
  • Clear error messages. Instead of "Something went wrong", Liyora now says what happened: invalid key, key refused, daily limit reached, too many requests, Gemini busy, no internet, secure connection failed (often a wrong date and time), region not supported, or blocked text.
  • Fewer false "limit reached" errors. Busy servers and timeouts are retried once. A short per-minute limit no longer marks a key as used up for the day. Only a daily limit on every model counts as "limit reached".
  • New "Check key" button on the keys screen. It sends a tiny test request and shows the result in plain words.
  • Safer key storage. If a phone can no longer read its saved keys, Liyora no longer crashes or fails silently. It asks you to add the key again.

How to install

  1. Download Liyora-1.1.1.apk below on your Android phone (Android 8.0 or newer).
  2. Open it and allow installing apps from this source when Android asks, then tap Install. If you have 1.1.0, this installs over it and your keys stay saved.
  3. New users: open Liyora, tap Add key, then Get my key, and create a free key in Google AI Studio. Paste it into Liyora.
  4. Tap Open settings and turn on the Liyora keyboard, then tap Choose keyboard and pick Liyora.

Liyora is not on Google Play. Google Play Protect may show a warning for apps installed outside the Play Store.

Free Gemini key notes

  • Free limits are per Google project and per model, not per key. Keys from the same project share one limit.
  • Limits reset at midnight Pacific time.
  • Use Check key on the keys screen if translation fails. It tells you whether the key works, is invalid, reached its limit, or can't reach Gemini.
  • Google may use text sent with free keys to improve its products. Avoid translating private or sensitive text.
