• Updates install themselves: when a new version is out, HocusFocus downloads it, checks it's notarised by Apple and signed by HocusFocus's developer, puts it in place and relaunches the next time it isn't on screen. A notification tells you it's done. Turn it off in Settings → About → Install updates automatically.
• One-click updates otherwise: the update button in the menu bar, the launcher footer and Settings now installs and relaunches instead of opening a download.
• If HocusFocus can't replace itself (for example when run straight from the disk image), it offers the download as before.

Updating from 0.1.4 or earlier: download this version once by hand. Every update after this one installs itself.

• File search finds Desktop, Documents and Downloads: macOS keeps those folders out of an app's search results until the app is allowed in, and HocusFocus never asked, so files there didn't show up. Now it asks once for each folder: from a row in the launcher's Files section, the welcome screen, or Settings → General. Files never leave your Mac.
• Your files first: app data in Library now sorts below your own files, like node_modules and .git.
• Settings → General → File search shows whether any folder is still blocked and links straight to Privacy Settings to fix it.

• Welcome screen: the first time you open HocusFocus it shows how it works: it lives in your menu bar, not the Dock, and your shortcut calls it up from any app. It has a live demo, things to try, one-click ⌘ Space setup, and an optional Open at login switch. • Opening the app does something now: double-clicking HocusFocus in Applications (or opening it from Launchpad or Spotlight) shows the launcher instead of seeming to do nothing. Launching at login stays quiet.
• Tidier file search: matches inside node_modules and .git folders now sort below everything else.

• Update checker: once a day HocusFocus checks for a new version and offers the download in the menu bar, the launcher footer and Settings → About. You can check by hand or turn it off there. It sends only the app's version to GitHub.
• File search: type two or more characters to see a Files section with up to 8 matches from everywhere Spotlight indexes, recently opened first. ↵ opens, ⌘↵ reveals in Finder.
• Use ⌘ Space: Settings → Global Shortcuts walks you through turning off Spotlight's ⌘ Space and giving it to HocusFocus, and warns you if Spotlight still has it.

From this version on, HocusFocus tells you when an update is out.
