What's New in v0.7.0

Character Knowledge — Story Spine

  • New Knowledge tab on each character. Manuscript chapters render in story order, each with an inline "type a fact they learn here…" composer — scroll to a chapter, type the fact, hit Enter
  • Sticky summary strip at the top: "Through the manuscript: N known · M suspected · K lies maintained" — click to expand the full cumulative known list and any lies they're keeping
  • Each fact has a single 5-state segmented control: Suspects · Knows · Proven · Forgot · Hides. One click sets the state — colored to match
  • Click a fact text to inline-edit it; trash icon appears on hover to delete

Character Knowledge Map (project-wide)

  • New tool on the project Overview's Tools row. Surfaces every fact across every character in one place, perfect for plotting dramatic irony
  • Chapter page-deck along the top — a horizontal strip of clickable page-shaped cards, one per chapter. The current "through" chapter is filled in accent color; past chapters are tinted, future chapters faded. Prev/next chevrons on either side step one chapter at a time
  • Matrix: rows are facts (deduped, grouped by the chapter they were introduced in with a sticky chapter header above each group); columns are characters (color-coded). Cells show that character's state for that fact at the selected "through chapter"
  • Filters: state pills (toggle which states show); character pills (toggle columns); search box for fact text
  • Click a chapter header or cell to jump to that chapter; click a column header to open that character

Character Sheet View (read-only)

  • New "View as Sheet" / "Back to Edit" toggle in the character identity panel
  • Swaps the editor's tab UI for a single scrollable read-only page showing everything in one view — portrait, snapshot (alignment + traits + values), drives, triggers/coping, appearance, continuity, story (goals/motivation/backstory/arc), connections (relationships + world links), knowledge, "appears in" chapter list, and notes
  • Empty sections auto-hide so undeveloped characters don't render a wall of headings

Personality Tab — More Depth

  • Three new trait sliders: Optimist ↔ Pessimist, Idealist ↔ Pragmatist, Disciplined ↔ Spontaneous. The auto-summary picks them up automatically when a character leans far from center
  • Core Values grew from 16 to 38 — added Authenticity, Service, Wisdom, Courage, Discipline, Generosity, Resilience, Curiosity, Independence, Faith, Beauty, Mastery, Privacy, Empathy, Patience, Innovation, Pleasure, Status, Vulnerability, Achievement, Forgiveness, Community
  • New Triggers & Coping card: two chip lists for what sets a character off and how they handle it — high narrative leverage in scenes

Profile Tab — Continuity

  • New Continuity card on the Profile tab to keep descriptions consistent across the whole book
  • Signature Items chip list (pocket watch, scar over left eye, leather jacket, …)
  • Four sensory anchors: Scent · Sound · Movement · Presence — small inputs that double as "show, don't tell" cues

Fixes

  • Project Overview & manuscript canvas background images no longer pixelate or shift as you scroll. The image is now sized to the visible canvas instead of being stretched across the entire scrollable area, fixing both the resolution loss and the "different spots" jumping
  • Added a pnpm local script that rebuilds native modules for Electron before starting the dev server, healing the better-sqlite3 ABI mismatch that can occur after running tests
