SpaghettiPad 0.2.1 — SDK 27 startup and rendering fix

SpaghettiPad 0.2.1 fixes the launch crash and black game image when built with Xcode/SDK 27 and run on iOS or iPadOS 27.

The pinned SDL2 integration now uses scene startup and scene-aware orientation handling. Existing IPAs need rebuilding; updating PadMint alone cannot change an installed app. Choose SpaghettiPad in PadMint and confirm that it selects v0.2.1. Build and sign the new IPA with your usual bundle identifier so an in-place update can retain your app data. No SDK downgrade is required.

This release contains source and a PadMint recipe/checksum only. No IPA, ROM, extracted game archive, texture pack or signing material is distributed. The build does not read your ROM; provide your own supported game data in the app.

Validation: final hosted repository safety and full unsigned arm64 build/package checks passed; local Xcode 27 arm64 build and app/package audits passed; repository safety and controller ownership regression; physical M2 iPad on iPadOS 27 with touch menu navigation, Luigi Raceway rendering and background/resume; final-build rendering regression on iPhone 14/iOS 26.6.2. A short iPad capture contains non-silent digital audio. Full race completion, physical controllers, speaker listening and reporter confirmation remain separate acceptance checks.

Version 0.2.1, build 8. Source commit: 1d05c5e934c2c73455f9832774dc2725729338e3. See docs/IOS27_STARTUP.md in the source for the investigation and evidence. PadMint's shared SDK/scene check is merged in PadMint source and will ship in its next normal release.

SpaghettiPad 0.2.0 for iPhone and iPad. This release contains no app: SpaghettiPad is compiled from the SpaghettiKart decompilation, so you make your own with PadMint on an Apple Silicon Mac, and you add your own Mario Kart 64 ROM in the app.

Get it

  1. On a Mac with Xcode, install the build libraries once: brew install cmake ninja pkgconf sdl2 glew nlohmann-json libpng libzip tinyxml2 libogg libvorbis opus opusfile sdl2_net ripgrep
  2. Download PadMint, unzip it, double-click PadMint.command and choose SpaghettiPad. It builds SpaghettiPad 0.2.0 from this release and saves an unsigned IPA in the folder you choose.
  3. Install the IPA with AltStore Classic, SideStore or Sideloadly, then add your Mario Kart 64 ROM in the app (setup).
