NorthCinder 0.2.0

NorthCinder 0.2.0 has a simpler local setup and asks more of the agent before it recommends or buys anything.

A simpler local start

npx northcinder init now starts the MCP server and local engine together in one keyless process on an ephemeral loopback port. There is no second service command, NorthCinder account, cloud service, or telemetry path.

Better evidence before a recommendation

Product and seller research now follow explicit evidence contracts. The default decision brief keeps the shortlist to three distinct roles when they exist, while other finalists, rejected options, source claims, and unknowns remain available in the detail.

Missing evidence stays visible. It can make a candidate provisional, but it cannot quietly become a ranking advantage or purchase authority.

Approval that binds what will be bought

Purchase approval now binds the complete offer, merchant, variant, price, provenance, and quantity-one facts. Older underbound mandates fail closed. Order outcomes and preference proposals remain local and buyer-confirmed; reminders only notify.

Store coverage without pretending

This release adds current Shopify UCP discovery and refresh paths. Unavailable stores remain visible in the coverage report. Browser observations can help with comparison, but a native store connection or merchant protocol must confirm the exact offer before checkout or an unattended watch.

Supported research host

Routine research support is qualified for Codex CLI 0.147.0 with gpt-5.6-luna at medium reasoning over local STDIO MCP. Other host and model combinations have not been qualified.
