LibreELEC Generic x86_64 with native HDMI 3D on amdgpu (round 20, 2026-09-08)
Pre-release
Development image of LibreELEC Generic x86_64 with native HDMI 3D on amdgpu. Built 2026-09-08 from branch local/frl-72y-3d @ 38fc65a for one machine (Intel NUC with a Radeon RX 7600, HDFury VRROOM, JVC DLA-RS4100). Expect rough edges.
What is in it
- LibreELEC master + kernel 7.2.4 with five amdgpu/drm patches (
packages/linux/patches/default/0100-0104): HDMI 1.4 3D modes on HDMI connectors, 3D announced in the HDMI VSIF, frame packing with the doubled timing. The upstream form is the three-patch series on amd-gfx: https://lore.kernel.org/amd-gfx/20260907125015.69811-1-adrian.betschart@cinemaone.ch/ - popcornmix's Kodi branch
fix-stereoscopic-3d-gbm-upstreamon top of Kodi 22.0b2 (MVC playback, 3D Blu-ray ISO, authored subtitle depth incl. MKV remuxes), and his MVC-capable ffmpeg.
Requirements
- A native HDMI output on the GPU (the connector must show up as
card0-HDMI-A-*); a DisplayPort-to-HDMI converter does not work. - Tested only on the RX 7600 (DCN 3.2.1). Other AMD GPUs are untested.
Settings after first boot
- Whitelist (Settings > System > Display): your 2D modes plus the 1080p24 3D entries, e.g.
0192001080024.00000ptabfrp,0192001080023.97608ptabfrp,0192001080024.00000ptab,0192001080023.97608ptab(the 23.976 identifier must read exactly as the box offers it). - "Adjust display refresh rate": On start / stop.
- 3D output layout defaults to frame packing;
KODI_3D_PREFER=tab|sbsin the Kodi environment or<stereoscopicpreferframepacking>false</stereoscopicpreferframepacking>in advancedsettings.xml changes that.
