v1.0-SAFEWORD-RC
Pre-releaseRelease candidate v1.0-SAFEWORD-RC of midwimble.
A confidential, merge-mined MimbleWimble chain — Midstate's consensus and networking carrying private transactions.
midwimble v1.0-SAFEWORD-RC is the first public release candidate. It ships one static midwimble binary — full node, wallet, mining pool, merged miner and anchoring — for six platforms, built --release --features webrtc, gpu.
⚠️ Release candidate. For testing and evaluation. Run it against disposable wallets and expect that parameters may change before the finalv1.0.
Highlights
- Confidential transactions. Amounts hidden behind Pedersen commitments with aggregated Bulletproof range proofs; stealth addresses hide the recipient. Supply stays publicly auditable — a fixed 1,000,000-coin cap, reached to the base unit.
- Merge-mined with midstate. Block production is secured by midstate's proof-of-work at near-zero marginal cost, with bonded block producers from block 1.
- Post-quantum recovery. Outputs carry a hash-based (MSS) recovery commitment, so coins can be reclaimed against an anchored checkpoint even if the elliptic-curve signatures are ever broken.
- Browser & CLI wallets. A CLI wallet plus a zero-install web wallet that talks to nodes directly over WebRTC (js-libp2p, no gateway, no CA).
- Light clients & fast sync. Peer discovery over the light protocol, checkpoint-verified snapshot sync, and optional pruning of block bodies below the finalized checkpoint.

sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txtQuick start
# unpack (Linux x86-64 shown)
tar xzf midwimble-v1.0-SAFEWORD-RC-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz
cd midwimble-v1.0-SAFEWORD-RC-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
export MIDWIMBLE_PASSWORD=... # wallet encryption password
./midwimble wallet --wallet w.mww create # prints a v1 address + 24-word recovery phrase
./midwimble node --help # full-node options
./midwimble --help # all subcommandsRunning a node merge-mines against a midstate node (--midstate host:port); mining additionally requires a registered bond (midwimble bond). See the README for the full node, pool, and anchoring setup.
Web wallet: https://ciphernom.github.io/midwimble/wallet/ . It connects to any node built with --features webrtc whose UDP port (its TCP port + 2) is reachable.
Economics
- Supply cap: 1,000,000 coins — 8 decimals (1 coin = 100,000,000 base units).
- Block time: ~60 s target (ASERT difficulty, anchored to the genesis timestamp).
- Emission: a 30-day linear slow start, then 0.23932616 per block, halving every 2,100,000 blocks (~4 years), reaching the cap exactly.
- Coinbase maturity: 100 blocks.
Known limitations
- GPU mining is experimental. The
gpuminer is built in, but has been verified only against software Vulkan (Mesa llvmpipe), not real GPU hardware. CPU mining (--backend cpu) is the default. - Native Intel-macOS and Windows-on-ARM binaries are produced by CI but exercised less than the Linux and x64 builds — please report issues.
- As a release candidate, treat balances as testnet value until
v1.0final.
