Debian 12 + CIX PPA Quick Installation Guide

This guide provides instructions for installing Debian 12 on the CIX P1 platform and configuring the CIX PPA driver environment with a one-click script.

1. Quick Installation Summary

1.1 Installation Overview

2. Installing Debian 12 GNOME Desktop

2.1 Download CIX Debian12 ISO (Recommended)

CIX ISO Download URL

2.2 Create a Bootable USB Drive

Using balenaEtcher (Windows / Linux / macOS):

1. Download and install balenaEtcher (you can also use the built-in startup disk creator on Linux)
2. Insert a USB drive (8 GB or larger recommended)
3. Select the ISO file → select the USB drive → click Flash
4. Wait for the write to complete before removing the USB drive

2.3 Install Debian 12

Boot the Installer

1. Insert the USB drive and boot from it
2. Select Graphical install from the boot menu

Installation Steps

Keyboard layout	American English or your local layout	Match your keyboard
Network	Configure hostname and network	DHCP recommended
User setup	Set username and password	Recommended: leave root password blank so the regular user gets sudo
Partitioning	Guided - use entire disk	Automatic partitioning recommended

GRUB	Install to the primary disk	Accept default

Root Password Recommendation

Recommended: leave the root password blank

When prompted for the root password during installation, leave it empty and press Enter.
The regular user will automatically be added to the sudo group.

If a root password was already set:

# After booting into the system, add the regular user to the sudo group
su -
usermod -aG sudo $USER
exit

2.4 Complete the Installation

1. Reboot when installation finishes
2. Remove the USB drive
3. Log in to the Debian GNOME desktop
4. Open a terminal and proceed to configure CIX PPA

3. One-Click CIX P1 Driver Installation

3.1 Run the Installation Script

# Complete configuration with one command
curl -fsSL https://archive.cixtech.com/cix-repo-community.sh | sudo sh

3.2 Interactive Selection

The script will prompt you to choose a driver version. Enter 2 to install the full driver:

✅ Debian 12 (bookworm) detected

Please select the driver package version to install:
  1) cix-debian12-k6.6.89-driver  (Closed-source solution, Linux 6.6)
  2) cix-debian12-k6.6.89-driver-full  (Full closed-source solution, Linux 6.6)
  3) Uninstall CIX packages and configuration

Enter your choice [1-3, default 2]: 2

3.3 Expected Output

🎉 Repository setup completed successfully!

➡ Installing CIX driver package
Installing cix-debian12-k6.6.89-driver-full...
✅ cix-debian12-k6.6.89-driver-full installed successfully

➡ Configuring cix-grub-config
✅ cix-grub-config refreshed successfully

Target kernel 6.6.89-cix-build-generic is now the first GRUB boot option

3.4 Reboot

sudo reboot

After rebooting, verify the installation:

# Check the kernel version (should show 6.6.89-cix-build-generic)
uname -r
