MIDI: nice to have

Hi,

for a future hardware update it would be great to add a 1/8" TRS Typ A MIDI IN connector (or two, if one wants to go out, too). The possibilities on the DaisySeed are endless, and I would certainly need more than the 27 switch positions to switch between the programs. Also, who wants to bend down every time to switch programs? A MIDI IN would solve the problem, and one could use any kind of MIDI pedal for the controls. It looks like one or two 1/8" sockets would fit in the enclosure.

Not sure what alternatives are out there, but the form factor of the Hothouse is a big advantage.

Hey Hans,

The Hothouse platform road map isn't published anywhere, but 1/8" MIDI connectivity is on there, as well as an expression pedal jack.

So far in 2025, we're dealing with a lot of distractions outside of our control (supply chain hiccups and rising costs), but I would guess that sometime later this year we might release a v2.

It's probably more important to share Luke's pedal repository, which I did a second ago on the Github. We briefly thought about rewriting the entire repository for the Hothouse, but as it's not so complicated, we may want to wait until we can include MIDI and Expression pedal in V2.

There will not be a new version of the Hothouse until later this year at the earliest. Would you be interested in submitting a PR for any of the effects from the IDM Pedals collection? It seems like you already got a few working. Maybe if you got it started, others would contribute.

In fact, I'll start another thread specific to the idea and we'll track it there. Great find, by the way!

I tested out probably half of them, took me probably an hour and a half. Shouldn't take that long to get started.
