framecorder 0.1.1
install
on the frame, in desktop mode, open konsole and run:
curl -fsSL https://framecorder.coah80.com/install | shclick install, type your password once, done. already have it? run the same thing and pick update, or just wait, it updates itself now.
what's new
- one line installer. a little terminal app (built on opentui) that takes clicks, since there's no keyboard in steamvr. install, update, unlock or remove, all from the same command. frame drop and the flatpak are gone, this replaces both
- updates itself. every 6 hours it checks for a new release, checks the download against its sha256, and installs it. the tab switches to the new version once nothing's recording
- unlock once, stays unlocked. the permission that lets framecorder read the panels used to get lost on every update. it lives on a tiny root owned helper now (
framecorder-grab) that updates never touch, and that only does the one thing it needs the permission for - works without the password too. skip it and framecorder records steamvr's view (16:9, left eye) instead of the panels
- close it. "close framecorder" in the tab's settings stops everything (tab, recorder, clip buffer, sync) until steamvr starts again. bring it back sooner from "launch program" on the frame's app bar, or play in the steam library
- desktop app: a "keep running when closed" switch, so it doesn't have to sit in the tray, and a quit button in settings
- fixed installing from desktop mode's konsole, where it couldn't reach the services
